I believe its Indian property and it should be handed back to India.

I’m not sure if this is entirely true or not but I think Pakistan have claimed ownership over the diamond rather than India as it was given to the British in the Treaty of Lahore.

Ranjit Singh was the first and last powerful Sikh king; he was followed by three weaker kings, each of whom died prematurely. In 1843 Dhulip Singh, the last of Ranjit Singh’s sons, then a minor, became the recognized ruler of Punjab. The two Sikh Wars were fought during his reign, leading to the annexation of the Punjab by the British. On March 29th, 1849, the British flag was hoisted on the citadel of Lahore and the Punjab was formally proclaimed to be part of the British Empire in India. One of the terms of the Treaty of Lahore was as follows:
“The gem called the Koh-I-Noor which was taken from Shah Shuja-ul-Mulk by Maharajah Ranjit Singh shall be surrendered by the Maharajah of Lahore to the Queen of England.”

And it’s so weird I was just discussing this topic with someone just yesterday…especially the curse it supposedly carries.

On a school trip we went to the Tower of London. At the jewel cases, they have a conveyor belt type contraption to stand on - so that you can see each of the jewels without lingering too long. I missed the Koh-i-noor on first look, and so attempted to come backwards to take a closer look. Tripped, and took down the Japanese tourists behind me too. Embarrassing thing? The conveyor belt thing isn't at all fast.
I don't blame me, I blame the curse of the Koh-i-noor.

That one in the case is not the Koh i Noor… it’s a fake in case the real thing gets nabbed.

Seriously as a man it means nothing to me… sure if it was ever possible to gift it to my Wife then i would do so for sure… but knowing my lovely life, I mean Wife, she would never need such a thing for her beauty outshines that of any Diamond.

Personally if the Koh-I-Noor was ever unlicky enough to come within my grasp i’d throw it into a Volcano, Lord of the Rings style. Damn trinket has cursed enough and caused enough misery… doubtless many would throw me into the Volcano too… heck the curse!
