KK has become boring?

its boring? NO WAY!
its better then the cafe these days:eek:

One summary per day is OK. It good. All we need is pool of people who can do it. For instance five Indians and five Pakistani guppies sharing one day each for the test covering both sides of the story.

Since the start of India Pakistan series all anyone and everyone has written about is the matches between the two countries and how many times Shoaib Akhtar burped and how many times Sachin left the field to go to the bathroom etc. I think since we havent had a series this long between the two countries for a long time everyone went over board and all everyone did was talked about the series. If you notice there was plenty of hype before the India Pakistan clash in the world cup but since it was a one off match so the excitement built up and then died a little after the end of the match. This is a completley different scernario. We had 5 ODI's and 3 tests. A long series and there's only so much one can write or read about and after that everyone not only start loosing interest but also it gets boring repeating topics about the same teams over and over. If this was a part of the tournment I think things would have been different. So while KK remains the premium place for online desi sports lovers I think things would be back to normal after the end of the series. In the long tour no detail have been left out and personally I think it was a little too much. Thats my take on it.

I have been here for 5 years now and I am happy to report that KK was never as fun a place to be as it is today.
The threads are better organized, the comments are more balanced and unlike before - Indians/Pakistani guppies dont just pour venom on each other and each others' teams.
f&b...dont know where u r coming from....

I quite like LM’s reasoning. There’s simply been too much cricket lately to be able to keep KK guppies attention.

On an unrelated note - since, it is the season to whine, I guess I’d put in my two cents too. the following is a request by me as a member and not as mod:

I’ve been posting in KK for 2+ years. Most of my posts on GS have been in KK. Following Pakistan’s matches on KK and getting the fastest updates on the internet is what attracted me to KK. And especially since Cricinfo has slowed to a crawl, KK has probably become the fastest way to follow a game live.

But I’ve noticed a disturbing trend (at least to me) growing in KK and it is the gloating, the chestbeating and the self-glorifying rituals that some members engage in. All sports fans love to guess what is going to happen in the game the next day. It reflects well on the fan if his prediction comes good. But I think we are getting a bit carried away. If a guy you hate gets a duck, the credit goes to the bowler and if a guy you love gets a century, the credit still goes to the player - the batsman.

I just wanted to get that off my chest since it’s been bothering me for a while. And I think we should make a collective effort to avoid the post-match predictions-gone-true celebrations, and realize that the match is being played on the field and not in KK. There’re no incentives for guessing who the duck or the hero is gonna be in the next match. We have the fantasy league thread specifically for that. :stuck_out_tongue:

I apologize if I’ve offended anyone. That was not my intention. :flower1:

My concern was quality of postings & good debate. Most of the time there are only cut & pastes.
But I agree useless Indio-pak fight has gone down, which is good thing.

Sambi,
Those are very valid point.

fair_&_balance, there is more to Cricket in KK. :p Don't you love Basketball? :-D

I disagree. This sort of banter is what goes on in between most sports fans and it adds to the enjoyment. Far more annoying from my POV is when members open up new threads to discuss something that already has a dedicated thread for it, for example the thread about poor test match attendance in Pakistan. Why open another thread to discuss this very same issue?

No offence intended here either but I feel it’s a valid point.

Well you're obviously entitled to your point of view as far as the gloating banter etc is concerned.

With respect to your second point, perhaps they do so because they feel that they have a valid and somewhat different point to make? Either way, it's the mods' call in the end, isn't it?

Burnt out is probably a better way to put it. Over-cricket.

I think litle bit of banter is fine. Little bit of teasing supporter of othewr team is good .That keeps the intrest alive. That brings some spice int the discussion. Just imagine how boring KK would be without us indian supprters. :snooty:

I would like to ban you all for about a week, from tomorrow. :snooty:

ok..so we have only one day to gloat.
Comeon Karina,some1,rohit,matsui,indian_teen,Aejaz etc etc

Noble sentiments, but they seem to have come after Pakistan has lost. Frankly, I know exactly how much chest beating there would have been (and allowed) had India lost. I am not blaming the mods or members at all - it's human to feel happy when your team wins.

Naughty girl. Some words are not spoken. ;)

I'd agree with Xtreme and others. Predicting your side's victory, baiting the opponents and then gloating after the victory are all part of the fun. And if your side loses... tough luck. Move on to the next one. If we take the banter out of KK.. it will be reduced to a boring scoresheet. Although, it should all be civil. Jabb baat gaali galoch pe aa jayay, then thats a no-no.
