Erm ... when i was doing up my kitchen ,I added alot of fresh color to it ... so it looked decent but colorful ... so I have pink splashbacks , black kitchen with the lower cabinet doors zebrano design..
To keep it even more attractive , I keep all of the worktop space free and clean all the time ... all the pots and machinery are in the cupboards .. that gives it an ultra clean look ...

I love those picture perfect kitchens but I have trouble with cabinet space. The biggest space is taken up by the stand mixer. I hate it to be out but it is used every other day for aata so i have to have it up on the counter.
I am thinking of buying some colorful baskets for fruits and also a nice spoon holder.
I bought some art but have no idea where to put them now. A friend did kind of a decal (kettles and pots) for her kitchen that looked very unique and cute.

^ Sarad , If the kitchen is small size or medium sized kitchen .. the best option is to reduce the clutter from the worktop rather then bring on more ... coz the more the things , the more full and cluttered look it will give ...the less the items on the worktop , the more spacious and clean your kitchen will look ..
for the machinery that you use every day ... Why dont you just leave the machine on the top and keep its pots and accessories inside a cupboard ...
Decal is a great idea .. I suggest not to go for any specific fruit pictured decals .. go for simple, colorful , geometric designs .. or floral patterns .. they can make a room look really spacious as well ...

my kitchen is medium sized,white colored and i have a single big counter+worktop which has a microwave oven at the corner(because if i put a seperate table for it then the kitchen will look conjusted)and 2 red and white jars for biscuits n dryfruits
rest of the pots etc i have arranged in cupboards n drawers…and i have one rectagular shaped dark brown flower pot with red flowers beside the sink…
nothing else comes to my mind except for a curtain for the big window but white curtains would look boring and red color will look

^ why dont you try using a acrylic sheet in a color , maybe pink or red or what ever color you like .. use this in the splashback area ( between the top cabinets and the lower cabinet .. or is it already tiled ?
Splashback can create a lot of freshness in the kitchen ...

nice thread akmoti..i am also looking for some ideas ,i have a small open kitchn all tiled with light brown cabinets with a single shelve where i have hept micvrowave oven and baskets of aalo piaz ( its taking alot of space i just want to remove it ) dont know where to keep this thing !!
i am also thinking to put some colorfull wall paper on cabinets! no!!
ya phir draw some items related to food or write some information about food items to make it more interesting .. how is the idea ?? i am also thinking to hang a colorfull curtain to separate the kitchen area

I wanna add a back splash to my kitchen and in a long run may be island, right now I have a breakfast table in kitchen.

depends on your liking.
I keep aloo piyaaz in a cabinet. I do my grocery shopping every weekend so I do nto keep a lot and they do not rot or anything in the cabinet. I got wire baskets that stack on top of one another for this purpose.
If you are the artist kind or can draw, you can paint the white tiles . or as I said earlier you can buy decals, I love them but since I am renting I cannot put decals or paint the backsplash.
I like the idea of open kitchen as I like to see what my kids are doing but if it works for you you can put curtain or if you like wooden screens.
