AB…nice kitchen…yes i think something bright will change the look…
u can put bright colored jars or a mat over the microwave oven…like they have used yellow…
i’m also confused about what to do with my cabinets…i dont know wallpaper will look good or some plastic sheet so that it wont get dirty…
please suggest..

You have to PAY big bucks to get Over-the-range microwave. A good brand over the range microwave costs b/w 400-700+ These are actually microwave + exhaust fans

^ We have one and I don't like it at all! It's very inconvenient because of how high up it is. The exhaust is louder than I'm used to as well. We'll be replacing it in the next little while with a conventional exhaust and standalone microwave.

I didn’t realize this was such a novelty!!! I don’t think I’ve ever lived in a house that did not have microwave above the range…but then again, in Texas, the housing market is definitely newer and less expensive in comparison! We are looking into custom building our next home, and I will not have the microwave above the range…it’s much better to have the exhaust vented out, so that our desi cooking doesn’t stink up the house…with this arrangement, it just recirculates…

exactly Sehrysh , I was about to say , that high a microwave is absolutely crazy .. plus with all the desi cooking , I am positive its nothing but a hassle ... you need a full exhaust working at high speed in desi homes ...

Same reason that my wife gave me not to get one in our new home. She said, its too high (uncomfortable) and its difficult to keep clean. Additionally, now our son (9 yo) use the microwave too so it would have been inaccessible for him also.
