Alright so I know all white ppl kiss their children on the lips, but I’ve recently seen desi ppl do it more and more, and honestly I find it reallyyy awkward, it makes it real uncomfortable for me…I guess with the whole thing where kissing on the lips in public is such a taboo in our culture is probably the reason for my awkwardness…honestly even when I see white ppl doing it I don’t like it…what do u guys think??? Do u guys also find it awkward to see desi parents giving their kids a peck on the lips??

I used to give my little brother a kiss on the lips, lol. I was telling my fiance and he was SO weirded out by it, I dont see why it's a big deal moms/waaaaaay-older sisters do it. There's an 11-year age gap between us and him being 8, he's a baby to me!

I dont think it's a big deal or anything weird. Esp. if it's a quick peck with a good body distance, as in not hugging them and doing it then where it could look REALLY weird and awkward. Since he's much shorter than me, i just lower my face and pout and he plants a kiss, and that sounds awkward typing but I think when the kids are under 9, it is nothing too weird, IMO.

I think us adults just pervers kissing while kids just think its an innocent act.

Without even thinking about it ... my personal thing has been kissing anywhere on face be it lips or cheeks until 4 years old and 5 years to 7 years kissing on cheek and 7 year old plus kissing on forehead ... I have no problem in kissing my own kids ... I will kiss other people's kids on the cheek if they are under 2 years and on the hand or forehead if under 5 years ...

It sounds quite clinical but it is not - I think it is quite a natural response and it is natural to change habits based on age of child. Any one who is grossed out really is giving it too much thought.

So so right mA! I am the same when it comes to placement of kisses. Though to be honest with my baby brother who is a teenager now and a head taller than me I still kiss his cheek. He bows his head quite respectfully bless him, to recieve the daily kiss in response to his salaam in the morning. I had a major hand in raising him. The kiss on the hand, the first time I noticed that myself was my own grandfather. He would kiss my hand when we would say goodnight. The back of my hand, in a very non angraiz way. The second person to kiss on the hand was my MIL and my husband's naani. I found that very endearing.

I just gave my daughter a hug and a kiss on her lips when i dropped her at school.

What’s so gross and awkward about that?

I hope some of you understand that it’s not the same thing as french kissing :chai:

Exactly! It’s fine if done to YOUR OWN young kids/siblings, IMO. It’s a quick peck, dont see anything wrong w/ it either.

I used to kiss my neice and nephew on the lips when they were like both under 4, then i got married and hubby was freaked out, so just resorted to kissing them both on the cheeks.

but kissing such babys is no big deal, and like some said its not a french kiss, its a quick innocent peck.

Agreed ... Again it's different for sister to sister and sister to brother ... but brother to brother and father to son demands a slightly hard shell approach the contrary of which we couldn't get away with when puppy fat has been lost ...

I usually give quick kiss on lips to my niece and nephew. They are just 4 or 3 yrs old. and no its not some french kiss type.. its just a quick kiss......

and yes when they will be grown up (means after few years) i will definitely give them kiss on cheeks and then forehead only. but now i can kiss them anywhere on their face and head and it gives me a really different feeling like I am kissing my own children.

I do find it quite odd so yah i wouldnt do it atleast never on somebody else kids. I suppose when you become a parent, your ways do change because what you wl feel for your kid would be an all together diff feeling. I know how some people get all mushy mushy with their babies and i can understand it but still kissing a baby over 1-2 years i dnt think i wud.

i did kiss my sisters when they were under 5, and i dont see anything wrong about it, but i dont think i would do that with any other child except my own in future i'A.

But my parents werent really kissy with me at all so maybe thats why?

Are you sure no one else ? You are married as I know .
I do not kiss any one else on lips other than my wife that too in private not in public , not in front of my kids etc.
