I was going through a magazine and it showed a picture of a mother kissing her child on the lips. I dont know why but I dont feel comfortable upon seeing that. Perhaps I’ve been conditioned, I dont know.
What do you think about it? Would you kiss your child on the lips? If so, until what age? Do you think its not proper?

I know what you mean. Not only Mothers, but I've seen fathers (white people) do that to their young daughters as well. I'm not comfortable with it at all.

i think its an expression of love... if parents want to kiss their children on the lips... i see nothin wrong with it (As long as ther eis no tongue involved :--D )
i think thats all a bit strange especially with the father-daughter uuggh!
i would kiss my children but i wouldnt be comfortable kissing them on the lips though.
This is one topic where I actually agree with the majority. It's horrible!
i have a little daughter , i kiss her on the lips, but my husband dosen't. i can only do it until she is a 3,4 yrs , after that i dont think so , but for now there is nothing wrong with it , she is my baby , i gave birth to her . so kissing on the lips is not an issue UNTIL he /she is older, then they would run from you even if you want to kiss their feet.
There are different forms of affection. Different norms. Nothing right or wrong about it : )

There is nothing wrong with that. Th efeelings you have for you child are different from the feelings you have for your wife/gf/husband/bf. There is nothing wrong with that.
I kiss my 2 1/2 year old niece on the lips and she comes and kisses me on the lips, nothing wrong or unusual with it, when you all have kid you would do the same. :~)

agreed as well..
every parent has a different way of showing their loev to someone..some parents never hug or touch their kids.. dont mean the love aint there.. just a different way of showing it...
but yeah maybe the father daughter thing is wrong... not comfortable with that bit

i dont like it one bit. just the other day..my boss was kissing his one year old daughter on the lips..and it felt real awkward. secondly, he asked me to watch him kiss ..eeks. it may be just innocent kiss till the child grows up and realises what it was about. coz later on they will know what kissing on lips really means. confusing a child for no reason.
People we may not think anything wrong with it but we are teaching that little child a wrong thing he/she will go and kiss anybody if they don't think the difference between right and worg way of kissing. there are so many morons you don't know who thinks what even in your relatives you will find bad person. it is safe not to teach your child lip kissing nomatter what age they are at. play safe before anything happens and then too late thing comes in the play.
There was a case here in US(don't know where...I think it was in Claifornia) where a guy froma tribe or something from Afghanistan was spotted kissing his very young son on his penis. Family lived in a apartment complex like situation and other neighbours reported it. The poor guy was arrested on incest/molestation charges but later on it was clarified that it was a cultural thing for his tribe/culture to give a little kiss on the penis to the male son/child as an expression of love.

What bout age? Is it ok to kiss an 11 yr old?
And what about the type of kiss? Would you think anything longer than peck is okay...
