Re: Killer Road in Columbia
I think there was a documentary on some similar road, where ppl volunteer around each bend to guide traffic and let ppl know if it's safe to come around the corner, etc...
Dangerously interesting!

Re: Killer Road in Columbia
I remember this one trip where we took a bus from Swat going to Kaghan and we were sitting on top of the bus with our feet dangling down. There was this one point where the bus was right at the edge and we couldn't see the floor over the side of the bus and just the khai going all the way down, then there was this river across which another mountain just loomed up, green and lucious. Can never forget that moment of pleasure and anxiety all mixed in one.

Re: Killer Road in Columbia
I believe this is China - not columbia.
The story goes:
A man's wife died because there is not way for remote village to connect to the city (hence the hospital). He sold EVERYTHING he owned and chisseled through the mountain this path - so no one else will have to suffer!
It took him 20 or so years to do it, he broke through the mountain and died shortly after. Gov't found about it and build a proper road to the village and named it after him.
