Killer Coke

I decided to completely stop using all Coke products a while ago (actually few weeks ago) after watching this documentary on YT.

I thought I’ll share it here…let me know what you think of it?

Re: Killer Coke

I’ll watch it later but Hareem can you also give a brief synopsis of the documentary, please?

Re: Killer Coke

This is a pretty long video, I just watched the first 5 minutes on my phone, will watch the rest from my laptop later..but it is quite interesting!

I’ve been to the World of Coca Cola in Atlanta a few times, it was fun :sid:

Re: Killer Coke

I was about to go out…that’s why I’ll give a short one.

Here are the key points shown and discussed in the video:

  • Coca Cola’s controversial relationship with Nazi Germany
  • Dangers to health
  • Dangers to the environment
  • Marketing and a symbol of American Consumer Culture
  • Mistreating its employees
  • Racism and Unethical behaviour

Watch it all…it’s pretty interesting.

Re: Killer Coke

Will do, I love watching documentaries.

But you know what the sad thing is… we’re having a special little family meal at home today and I’m so having a coke!

Re: Killer Coke

^:D

watch it after the meal then.

Re: Killer Coke

What about Pepsi then. Can I drink Pepsi…

Re: Killer Coke

This is exactly what I thought after watching this video. The fact that it takes more than double the amount of clean water to make fizzy drinks I have ended up stop buying and drinking all the fizzy drinks.

Re: Killer Coke

If you stop eating and drinking various products based on the reason you have listed above you will soon starve to death. Sad but true.

As for coke :yummy:

Re: Killer Coke

unfortunately bhaijan is right.
but thanks for posting this. I watched it all the way through and learned things that I didn’t know.
I may not stop drinking coke altogether but I will certainly avoid it whenever possible. perhaps that in itself will make a difference…

Re: Killer Coke

Ehsan bhai, there’s a Chinese saying, “a thousand miles journey starts with a single step”. Sure it’s hard to find your way out of the corporates but it’s not impossible. There are ethical and independent sellers for most everyday use products, a bit more expensive than the others but satisfying to mind and body.

You’d be surprised to know that people to this day make their own soap and cosmetic. People before us survived without mass produce products for centuries..why can’t we?

Re: Killer Coke

I had mucus problem so I stopped using soda drinks a long time ago.

Re: Killer Coke

It is all good on paper. Do you think that anybody with a well paying job would have the time and the inclination to do this.

People before us survived without the use of toilet paper as well. So we should stop using them as well I suppose.
Companies who are not ethical and use unfair practices do not survive over the long term. Numerous examples come to mind but that would be lost in this mindless debate. While it is good to say these things, it is difficult to implement what we preach. We have come to a stage wherein we are dependent on these Multi national corporations and these companies (or alter ego) are here to stay.

Re: Killer Coke

Well off people may not have time but they sure do have the money to support and encourage independent businesses. You don’t have to stop using toilet paper but sure you can think of some better and environmental friendly solution. Just like the people who invented reusable nappies and sanitary pads.

But this is all of little importance to you so doesn’t matter. I’ll save my breath. Have a nice weekend.

Re: Killer Coke

Its true. The justice league eventually get a hold of them.

I gave up sodas, regular ones are too high in sugar… If you find them with sugar and not HFCS, diet sodas with aspertame give me horrible headaches and mess up digestive system, just feel bloated on them. I am extremely caffeine sensitive and these days have even given up coffee for the most part. So it has to be ideally caffeine free. So I can have caffeine free sodas with Splenda. Or just drink iced tea and lemonade or club soda with a dash of flavour.
Iced tea has caffeine too but not as bad I think. Water is the usual drink. I am not a anti soda dude, but for me quitting soda has been good on all fronts, including being leaner than I have been in years.

Re: Killer Coke

Exactly. Corporates create the laws. Check out the documentary on GM food and use of high fructose corn syrup.

Re: Killer Coke

Never liked Coke.
