My 9yo boy is the same specially at night he always calls his 6 years old sister to go with her in the basement if he has to get something. He send her in first to turn on the light

I was afraid of the dark until 8-9 years old and now I find dark very soothing and peaceful.

I know it can be annoying but give it time, they will get over it.
