MIRANSHAH: Former intelligence officer Squadron Leader Khalid Khwaja (retd) was found dead in Karam Kot area of Mir Ali, Geo News reported.

Bullet riddled body of Khalid Khwaja was found today with a pamphlet saying Asian Tigers killed Khwaja.

The self-styled militant organisation, Asian Tigers, which has been holding hostage two former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officers and a journalist, came up with new demands Wednesday, April 28, 2010, for the release of the kidnapped men.

It had approached former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz parliamentarian from Kohat, Javed Ibrahim Paracha, and sought his role in negotiations between the government and their group for the release of the two retired military officers.

The three men had gone to the volatile North Waziristan tribal region on March 26 to work on a documentary about Taliban. They went missing and an unknown organisation, Asian Tigers, believed to be run by a banned militant organisation of the Punjabi Taliban claimed responsibility for their kidnapping.

The purported militant group released video statements of the two former intelligence officers, Ameer Sultan alias Col Imam (retd) and Squadron Leader Khalid Khwaja (retd) and journalist, Asad Qureshi.

In the video, released on April 19, 2010, Col Imam first introduced himself and then claimed that he had come to Waziristan on the advice of former army chief, Gen Mirza Aslam Baig (retd). He said he had served the Army for 18 years and worked in intelligence branch for 11 years.

Khalid Khwaja, who is now a lawyer and chairman of the Defence for Human Rights, said he served Pakistan Air Force for 18 years and the intelligence unit for two years. He said he had come to Waziristan on the advice of former intelligence chief Lt-Gen Hameed Gul, Gen Aslam Beg (retd) and Col Sajjad of the intelligence unit. It seemed he was reading a written statement handed to him by his kidnappers as at some point he appeared looking down to a piece of paper to read the name of Col Sajjad.

The third person in the video was journalist Assad Qureshi.

He said: “My name is Asad Qureshi. I am a British citizen. Please help and set me free. I am being detained by Asian Tigers.” In an email to media, the spokesman for this previously unheard militant organisation admitted that Khalid Khwaja and Col Imam were in Taliban custody.

“We demand the release of all Taliban leaders and others Mujahideen, including Mulla Biradar, Mansoor Dadullah and Maulvi Kabir. We will send a list of other Mujahideen we want to free within few days,” the spokesman added. He said they had set 10-day deadline for the government to release ‘Mujahideen’ or else they would kill the officers or take any other decision.

Re: Kidnapped ex-ISI officer found dead

This Khalid Khawaja was famous for disclosing many events of past including relations of N$ with Usamah Bin Laden.
However sad news. They were proud of their relations with Taliban.
What about others with him ?

Re: Kidnapped ex-ISI officer found dead

Irony.

Re: Kidnapped ex-ISI officer found dead

He spent so many of his past years trying to protect terrorists through the legal system.... it's quite ironic that he met his end this way, face to face with the monster he made.

Most recently, Khalid Khwaja filed the Supreme Court petition that prevented Pakistan from deporting the Taliban Shura memember Mullah Baradar back to his native Afghanistan.

Re: Kidnapped ex-ISI officer found dead

Well this interesting. Earlier this week Khalid Khawaja’s lawyer has withdrawn his original petition challenging the Taliban extraditions without citing any reason.

Unname sources in the story linked below though say that Khawaja’s family have been getting death threats from the Taliban, who don’t want the proceedings on the petitions to continue.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A former Pakistani intelligence officer abducted by an alleged militant group last month was found shot dead Friday in a northwest tribal region, officials said.
Khalid Khawaja went missing in late March along with another ex-intelligence official known as Col. Imam and a filmmaker. There was no word on the fate of the two others.
Khawaja’s body was found on the road between Miramshah and Mir Ali, the two main towns in North Waziristan. Local TV channels broadcast a picture of what appeared to be Khawaja’s body.
He had been shot in the head and chest, and a note attached to his body accused him of being an American spy, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to be named by media.
The men were first reported abducted in late March. Soon after, a previously unknown militant group calling itself the Asian Tigers claimed to be holding the men in a video delivered to local media. Any demands they had were not made public.
Khawaja was known to be sympathetic to the militants cause, often appearing on television speaking in defense of suspected extremists.
He has claimed to be close to Osama bin Laden in the early days of the Afghan resistance to the Soviet Union.
Recently, he has spoken up in defense of five young American terror suspects on trial in Pakistan.
He also filed a petition in a Pakistani court to stop any attempt by Islamabad to extradite recently arrested Afghan Taliban leaders, including the movement’s No. 2 Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.—AP

it's good one monster creator is dead, now i am waiting for Col. Imam & Gen. Hamid gul to meet their fate.. ;)

Re: Kidnapped ex-ISI officer found dead

Ironic . I think all the other sympathizers should learn their lesson .

Re: Kidnapped ex-ISI officer found dead

As usual mostly out of line thinking with use of profanity in few words or just one line. Isn't it?

Can you explain without use of profanity why you have a soft corner with this guy or who are father founders of jehadis fighting with regular army? I see mental imbalance.

Re: Kidnapped ex-ISI officer found dead

A couple of things are bit fishy with this murder. The favorite method of execution of spies is beheading for Jehadists. Khwaja is accused of working for CIA by this group but is shot. The demands of release of Baradar and other Taliban leaders also appear to be unrealistic. Political kidnappers usually don't execute their prisoners in a hurry and hold on to them for months and years. The name of the group is also unusual for being an entirely English nature.

خس کم جہاں پاک
Great news!

maybe army or intelligence did it by themselves, by killing some old asset they are showing the world and the armed services too.. that their resolve for crushing talbanic ideologies is not losing. .. :hmmm:

Re: Kidnapped ex-ISI officer found dead

I find it difficult to feel sorry for him and Colonel Imam...

this is the most interesting part for me though. somebody ask some questions of Mirza sahib....

He was responsible for the creation of anti-Islam Taliban monster that has killed thousands of Muslims all over the country.
It is because of these extremist fanatics in intelligence agencies that Pakistani people are going through all this.

May be I was not clear enough of the feelings I have about that snake. So here we go:
مر گیا مردود
نہ فاتحہ نہ درود

by that definition all the armies of the world are evil including pakistani army being all kafir and not deserving any respect.

May Allah protect the true Mujahideen, may Allah bless their families, may Allah destroy their enemies, may Allah fill their hearts with tranquility and courage. Ameen.
