Selling an add-banner-spot on gupshup would be awesome. This website is teeming with the sort of people this movie is targetted at (pakistani muslims living in a paradoxical post 9/11 world) so it would definately do good for the movie and the site. :D

How exactly are outsiders going to help? It's a Pakistani movie, so most likely it will only be played in Pakistan, so outsiders cannot contribute through buying tickets. Maybe they play Pakistani movies in UK, I don't know.

I’ve been waiting for this movie for the last three years when it was first announced. I’m quite a Shoaib Mansoor fan… his dramas: Ankahi, Sunehre Din, Alpha-Bravo-Charlie are true evergreen classics! – and his lyrics in Dil Dil Pakistan and Aitebaar are beyond superb.
I sure hope this is played in theatres here.
TDW, I think you’ve answered your own question… if there are no screenings of Pak movies in the USA, then someone can gather enough support and sponsors to make it happen!

i think it is gonna release in UK n USA…but i m not sure about Canada n other western countries. lets hope for the best. Geo proposal for launching the movie is pretty impressive n i think the gonna makesure it hits western cimena, cuz no matter wat, its about Muslimz n outerworld. so yeah west plays a great deal of role in the movie so west’z take also do matter a lot. so ppl living abroad do try to make ways to see it n spread the word (good onez

IT WAS SOMETIME IN 2003. I HAD JUST COMPLETED THE SECOND SUPREME ISHQ (SUPREME LOVE) SONG CALLED “ANARKALI” WHEN I ANNOUNCED TO THE UNILEVER TEAM, COMPRISING MR. RIZWAN JAMEEL AND MR. KASHIF AFANDI, THAT I WOULD NOT BE DOING ANY MORE VIDEOS OF THE ISHQ SERIES. THEY WERE SHOCKED. THEY WERE PAYING ME GOOD MONEY AND I HAD COMMITTED A WHOLE SERIES ON THE DIFFERENT POSSIBLE FORMS OF ISHQ (LOVE). I TOLD THEM THAT THESE VIDEOS WERE TAKING TOO MUCH OF MY TIME AND THAT I WOULD RATHER MAKE A FILM. HAVING BEEN IMPRESSED BY THE RESPONSE TO MY TWO VIDEOS KASHIF AFANDI INSTANTLY DECLARED THAT THEY WOULD GLADLY FINANCE MY FILM. NOTHING COULD HAVE PLEASED ME MORE SO I STARTED THINKING OF A STORY. I ALREADY HAD A FEW IN MIND AND ONLY HAD TO DECIDE ON ONE.
ONE ISSUE WHICH HAD ALWAYS BEEN OF INTEREST TO ME WAS THE DOUBLE STANDARDS AND THE CONFUSED STATE OF MIND OF THE OLDER GENERATION OF
EXPATRIATE PAKISTANIS. I HAD NOTICED DURING MY VISITS TO SEVERAL WESTERN COUNTRIES THAT THE EXPATS WERE GOING THROUGH ENORMOUS PROBLEMS WITH THEIR YOUNGER LOT. I CAME TO KNOW OF A NUMBER OF TRAGIC STORIES DURING THE INTERVIEWS I DID FOR MY SERIES OF DOCUMENTARIES CALLED “GULLS AND GUYS”. TO ME THE PARENTS THEMSELVES WERE TO BLAME FOR THE TRAGEDIES THEY WERE FACING. GIVING BIRTH TO CHILDREN IN A WESTERN SOCIETY; SENDING THEM TO SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES THERE; LETTING THEM BE A PART OF THAT CULTURE AND THEN EXPECTING THEM TO BE MORE RELIGIOUS AND ORTHODOX THAN EVEN THE PAKISTANIS BACK HOME IS SOMETHING ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND ABSURD. AS IF THESE PROBLEMS WERE NOT ENOUGH FOR THEM TO HANDLE….THE TRAGEDY OF 9/11 HAPPENED. MANY INNOCENTS WERE SENT BACK HOME AND THOSE WHO REMAINED THERE BECAME SUSPECTS BECAUSE OF THEIR MUSLIM NAMES. THE REACTION OF THE WEST TO THE 9/11 INCIDENT FURTHER STRENGTHENED THE HARDLINERS THUS MAKING THE STRUGGLE OF MODERN MUSLIMS FOR THE SOUL OF ISLAM EVEN MORE BUT DIFFICULT.
ALL SENSITIVE SOULS? WERE FEELING THE BRUNT OF THIS TRAGIC SITUATION AND I WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. CAUGHT IN THESE THOUGHTS, ONE MORNING I WAS GOING THROUGH A NEWSPAPER AND I SAW MY FRIEND JUNAID JAMSHED’S INTERVIEW IN IT. AFTER LOOKING AT HIS NEW ATTIRE IN THE PHOTOGRAPH THAT ACE THE ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN IT. I COULD NOT STOP MYSELF FROM READING IT. THE MORE I READ THE MORE SAD I FELT. HE HAD ANNOUNCED QUITING MUSIC AFTER BEING CONVINCED THAT IT WAS “HARAM”. IT REALLY SHOOK ME VERY BADLY.
I HAVE NEVER BELIEVED THAT GOD COULD HATE THE TWO MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS HE HAS GIVEN TO MANKIND…. MUSIC AND PAINTING.WHY ARE THESE THE TWO MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS I FELT THAT A CONFUSED MAN LIKE JUNAID HAD NO RIGHT TO CONFUSE THOUSANDS OF HIS YOUTHFUL FOLLOWERS. I HAD GIVEN HIM SIXTEEN YEARS OF MY LIFE AS A TRUE FRIEND AND HAD PLAYED MY ROLE IN HIS PROFESSIONAL LIFE TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITIES. HOW COULD HE THROW AWAY OUR SIXTEEN YEARS JUST LIKE THAT WITHOUT EVEN CONSULTING ME? I FELT THAT IT WAS MY DUTY TO RECTIFY THE DAMAGE HE HAD DONE TO THE ALREADY SUFFERING SOCIETY UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF FUNDAMENTALISTS.
I THOUGHT THAT THE NEED OF THE HOUR WAS TO STUDY THE WHOLE MINDSET WHICH GAVE BIRTH TO SUCH WRONG NOTIONS ABOUT ISLAM. I HAVE NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT INSTEAD OF TAKING THE PRESENT AGE FOURTEEN HUNDRED YEARS BACK WE HAVE TO BRING ISLAM TO THE PRESENT AGE. THE BEST SERVICE TO ISLAM TODAY IS TO MAKE IT APPLICABLE TO MODERN DAY REQUIREMENTS.
I STARTED WEAVING A STORYLINE BASED ON THE REJECTION OF THE ORTHODOX APPROACH TOWARDS ISLAM AS WELL AS THE WRONGS THAT THE WEST WAS DOING TO MUSLIMS ALL OVER THE WORLD.
IT TOOK ME MORE THAN SIX MONTHS TO FINISH THE FIRST DRAFT.
WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY PRODUCERS, UNILEVER, THEY COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS UPTO. THEY FOUND THE STORY EXTREMELY CONTROVERSIAL AND DANGEROUS. IN THAT STATE OF MIND AND CONFUSION THEY KEPT ME HANGING ON FOR ABOUT THREE QUARTERS OF A YEAR BEFORE FINALLY BACKING OUT. I WENT TO PEPSI’S MANAGEMENT BUT THEY TOO HAD A SIMILAR REPLY…” BEING AN AMERICAN COMPANY WE CANT PARTICIPATE IN SOMETHING AGAINST AMERICA”.
THE FILM WAS TOO CLOSE TO MY HEART TO ABANDON. I HAD TO MAKE IT EVEN IF I HAD TO ARRANGE A LOAN WHICH I EVENTUALLY DID WITH THE HELP OF SOME LIKEMINDED PEOPLE. THE FILM HAS TAKEN FOUR YEARS FROM THIS, THE BONUS STAGE OF MY LIFE. THE FILM HAS MADE ME WISE. IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT MAKES ME PROUD BUT I AM DEFINITELY SATISFIED WITH THE MESSAGE IT CARRIES.

Lets hope they watch the movie before putting so many resources at disposal.
The plan is good and professional, but requires a lot of money.
Shoman is a bona fide genius, I can not expect from him anything short of a masterpiece. I expect the movie to be brilliant.
The problem is with the audience. The cinema culture is not alive in pakistan anymore. And those few who now go to cinema want some thrill and entertainment, this movie might not provide it.
The movie looks more suitable parrallel cinema, which is also non-existant here. It also requires an acquired taste.
The only hope for him recover his money is to release his movie outside pakistan is US & Britain, because the main theme is related to expats.

so far, directors blame consumers n viewerz put responsibility on directors. but dont forget in each side of teh argument, consumerz shape is changed. lower class watch these movies whereas when it comes to critique middle or upper is asked to do so, who sum-up their analysis on ghateya songz, stupid dances n pointless dialouges (which indeed presents tru reflection).
its been ages for ny class worthy (super duper) movie hit the screen. so lower class which relate upper class for setting a luxurious life style examples are bound to some ridiculous choices. hopefully this will change as ppl will eventually acknowledge the truth:)
