Khatti's Kitchen Korner

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

khati whts the difference bw lemon tar and lemon curd?

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

Lemon "curd" is a thick, creamy spread made from egg yolk, sugar and lemon juice

A "tart" is any type of dessert made in a shell, like a mini pie crust...

A "lemon tart" would be the lemon curd spooned into a little crust/shell

They are two completely different things. Go back a few pages and you'll see the picture of the brand of lemon curd I buy here in the US

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

Khatti..what do i tell the desi butcher that I need this?

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

This cut of beef is called “cube steak” which is cut from sirloin or round. It needs to be tenderized by pounding it with the spikey side of a meat mallet. I honestly have not had much luck with normal desi/halal butchers knowing how to prepare this cut, so when I make CFS, I buy the tenderized cube steak from my local Jewish Kosher meat butcher

You may be able to use pasanda meat though…when I was at the desi halal shop today, I looked at a tray of pasanda and it looked similiar…a little thinner cut, but it may work.

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

^ such a misleading name..there is no chicken in it n I kept thinking how come it’s red like beef

Can I try this with chicken breast?

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

:rotfl:

The name “Chicken Fried Steak” refers to the way it’s battered and fried like traditional fried chicken…It’s a southern thing I guess :omg:

You can definately use chicken breast, then it becomes “Chicken Fried Chicken”…equally :yummy:

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

Khatti, I made the Mango sunrise trifle for the potluck yesterday and it was a BIG hit!! Everyone loved it and had multiple helpings. I brought an empty/cleaned trifle bowl home..hehe  So thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe!! Can’t wait to try the lemon curd one and the rest of your recipes. :flower1:
