So, lets say, hypothetically, you are raped. (Thread is obviously targeted to females). You find you are pregnant after the ordeal. Would you keep the baby?
Re: Keeping the Baby
NO
Re: Keeping the Baby
i wouldn't either
Re: Keeping the Baby
its a very good question thou..its makin me thiNK b/c i am against abortion
Re: Keeping the Baby
No! Abortion is allowed in Islam for the first 3 weeks of pregnancy..
Re: Keeping the Baby
I would. What doesn't kill me makes me stronger.
Re: Keeping the Baby
How the heck is abortion allowed in the first 3 weeks?
Re: Keeping the Baby
Agreed, and very hard to do, but then how does one know their own limits if one isnt willing to test them?
Re: Keeping the Baby
You wouldn’t even know that you were pregnant within those first three weeks.
I wouldn’t keep it.
Re: Keeping the Baby
No i would not keep the baby as a constant reminder of the ordeal. i also believe that it is not right to keep an unwanted baby. It would not be fair on the kid.
Re: Keeping the Baby
I don’t think anyone can answer this question correctly (i.e. what they will really do) unless one pass through the dilemma. Person is in totally different state of mind if god forbid something like this happens.
Re: Keeping the Baby
nope
Re: Keeping the Baby
thats why these “24 hour after pills” are there for ![]()
Re: Keeping the Baby
No way hell no i wouldn't keep the baby get abortion asap
Scary situation though...
thinkin about it id probably never tell anyone either
Re: Keeping the Baby
saadia sweetheart, I doubt those pills were made with rape victims in mind. What with their demographic being not the most economically fruitful - that and its a slighty morbid markt to roll your eyes at. Even for the CEO of these femme-protection companies. Fat white male as he may be.
Re: Keeping the Baby
ditto!!!!!!
Re: Keeping the Baby
I quite agree that you cannot know what you'd do in such a tragic situation until you are IN it. I think its important to educate our kids on these things and perhaps avoid some of the tragedy. If a gal is raped (in the US), she should go as soon as possible to an emergency room where they will perform a "rape kit" to gather any and all evidence, they provide "morning after" medication which prevents pregnancy and they also provide AIDS testing and prophylaxis.
I do understand that these measures are by no means available in other places. So if a gal is indeed faced with such a pregnancy, it should be left to her to decide what to do. I am sure she would find loving adoptive parents if she would be able to endure pregnancy and delivery but then the adoptive parents will always need to wonder about the father - what negative genetic impact he may have had on the child.
Personally, I dont like the idea of abortion at all. But I WOULD consider it seriously.
Re: Keeping the Baby
I would get an abortion. Its not a baby made out of love/marriage. If a lady has been raped, 1st of all like said before she should call the police and be checked out in hospital. I don't know why a raped women be concerned about any possible pregnancy? Why would you just wait around and suddenly find out your pregnant? Again this is rape we are talking about, a horrible horrible crime. God forbid this happens. I have no quotes to back me up, but I thought in Islam abortion is allowed in case of Rape.
Re: Keeping the Baby
Of course there are the "24 hours after pills" that someone else already mentioned. I would definately take one of those.
And if that didn't work and I ended up being pregnant, then no, I would have an abortion. Being raped is bad enough already, but then immediately go through a pregnancy that will 24/7 remind me of the ordeal, that can't be good for any woman's psychological state. How am I supposed to move on with my life out of this horrible situation when I have a child reminding me and my family/friends 24/7 as to what I went through? Also in the US, depending on the details of the crime, the rapist can be granted partial custody or supervised visitation etc. with the child if he wants it since the rapist is the biological father....and in that case, the rapist will stay in my life for at least 18 years.
Also, a child born out of rape, think about how a woman's family/friends/husband or future husband etc. will look at/treat that child for the rest of their lives....especially in the desi community. It's not only about giving birth to a child, its also about the QUALITY of life that child will have once its born.
