Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

Read this on a site, pretty impressive.
Something for the beardless males to think about. >>>

** By Br Tushar Imdad-ul-Haque Bhuiya **
Context of poem

I came to eat dinner in my halls of residence one day last year when two sisters started laughing at me; I had some food stuck in my beard. They went on to innocently and honestly mock my beard saying it was messy, unnatural and unhygienic. Little did they know the rage that I felt as a result of this and I channeled this rage by unleashing my anger through my pen and out came this poem.

I performed this poem in the Leicester University/DMU Islamic Societies and Eid Celebration and it was received with much laughter and acclaim - Alhamdulillah. Due to popular demand and many requests I have decided to type my poem up and email it to my friends in Islam. Let me remind you all not to be offended as this is no fatwa or religious statement - just a funny poem that spontaneously was produced as a result of my unfortunate experience…

Tushar (12th March 2001)

"Glorified be He who beautifies women with long locks of hair
And Men with long beards
There is beauty in the beard
Aye, there is beauty in the beard!

When the lion roars all the animals submit
For the lion is the king of the jungle
The lion with its glorious mane
And a Muslim man grows his mane in pride
Showing the rest of humanity that he is to be respected
Can one imagine a lion without its mane?
Nay, thou canst not!
Then imagine a man without his beard

Woe to worldly women who mock the beards so!
Desiring husbands with clean shaven faces
Woe to women who mock the Prophets Sunnah
In the name of hygiene, neatness and smooth texture
Indeed the women of this world cannot like the beard
But she who wants Paradise adores the beard!

A beard is a gift given to man
Something only he can grow; a woman never can!
When he ponders, he gently strokes it;
When he eats, it stores food;
When he is with kids, they play with it adoringly;
When he is with his wife, she fondles it lovingly;
When the enemy see it, fear is struck in their hearts!
Ah! there is indeed beauty in the beard!

All the Prophets had beards - yes they did!
Muhammad had a beard - so big! so big!
All the companions had beards - o yes! o yes!
All the sages had beards - I know! I know!
All the wise have beards - tis true! tis true!
All the pious have beards - you see! you see!
All the Muslims have beards!? - if only! if only!

Who did not have beards? The kafirun!
Who had clean shaven faces? The kafirun!
Who grew their moustaches? The kafirun!
“And what did our Prophet order?” I here you ask
He ordered us to lengthen the beard and trim the moustache!
Lengthen the beard and trim the moustache!
What greater reason that this can there be
The fact that our Prophet told us to see
That we make ourselves appear to the world
As full bearded men with honour untold

O Muslim brother! Why do you desire to look like a woman
When your blessed facial hair is the differece between you and the opposite gender?
O poor Muslim brother! Why do you imitate the kafir
Instead of following the Prophet of Islam?
O silly Muslim sister! Why are you so blind?
Infatuated with Bollywood actors who have no mind!
O wretched sister! Are you not scared of your choice?
You would rather have a feminine monkey instead of an exalted manly ape!

So indeed I love my beard
And adore the curls and tangles
Which no oil, gel or superglue can ever straighten
My glorious long, curly, messy, fluffy beard!
The playhouse for kids;
The envy of Malaysian people
And the beloved of Allah!
I maybe rejected by worldly women because of this hair on my face
But who care! For my Mum loves it and she puts all such sisters to disgrace!
Be patient Muslim brothers, who shun the trendy look for a Prophetic pose
Paradise with the wide eyed Houris is our final abode!!!"

aha finally a beard post, lets see what the responses are.n thnx for posting

How dare you!!! I hate all you bearded mullahs going around trying to make us beardless muslims feel guilty. I refuse to believe that growing a beard is a part of Islam. Yeah, and I've read all the evidence possible but I'll choose to ignore it because I've got my own version of Islam applicable only to me.

Sarcasm overload.

Just ignore those childish idiots here. At least they’re not as bad as madhanee maasi :halo:

May Allah Ta’ala ataa us the taufeeq to grow beards. :k:

I tried it yestrday in the bathroom taking off my moustache only and boy did I look sexy, but I’m weak Emaned and give in to society so I shaved it. :frowning:

Yeah I don't klnow why some people deny things which are so clearly spelt out in the Shariat, denying any of the Ehkamat is Kuffr, I'm not perfect and lack in that dept. myself but it doesn't drive me to become defensive when clearly I'm in the wrong, it's just not beards it's things like proper hijab and music too, khud nahein badaltey Islam ko badalney ki koshish kartey hain which drives them to Kuffr which is much worse than being a Faasiq, being a Faasiq you have hope for Allah's Mercy to prevail over His Wrath atleast one day but once you've become a Kaafir whether that's blunt apostasy or by denying His orders you are ****** for eternity and once Islam is not beleived in in it's original form it loses it's spirit, submission and the sukoon which comes from that in this life.

To all Jews, Sikhs and Hindu's Guppy's:

Please post your own poem on the virtues of long curly side-burns, long uncut hair and long finger nails, so we have some balance on the discussion of which of the physical human attributes make you a better faithful.

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

shut your trap?

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

just like hijab is a personal preference
beard is a man's preference. I am sick of a million groups with their own rules. subz pagri walay impose something else, neeli pagri walay impose something extra... islam makes your life easier. It is meant to set you free. I say fly.

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

Indeed it is, it’s meant to set you free not only from the personal whims of Pagri Waaley but it’s meant to also free you from mental slavery (sorry can’t think of a better term at the mo…) to the Kaafir society, the petty desires of your own Nafs and Satan.

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

Why the F is there no edit button on my posts and why's that wink smily just popped up, this GS sucks!

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

Having a beard is fine.. but atleast make an attempt to keep it clean. After all, cleanliness is half imaan.

Anyway, good effort on the poem, though I don’t think it rhymes well, but, afterall, its the *niyaah *that counts.

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

There are levels of goodness just like there levels of evil and wrong doings which corrupt our mind. Having a beard is a sunnah not a compulsion, so being a muslim we have a freedom to have it or not . But adapting the Sunnah of Prophet (P.B.U.H) does make us dearer in the eyes of Allah Subhan a tallah.

"Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah an excellent exempler for him who hopes in Allah and the Final Day, and who remembers Allah." (Quran 33:21)

and then there are numerous hadith in which we can find mention of the importance of having a beard

Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said "I have no connection iwth one who shaves, shouts and tears his clothing eg. in grief or affication."
- Reported by Abu Darda (R.A.) in Muslim, Hadith no. 501

According to some islamic scholars, shaving beard is an act of revolting against the nature of man, and imitating women. A beard is a sign of maturity and manhood. However, growing a beard does not mean letting it stretch to an unreasonable width or length rather, it adds to one’s handsomeness when it’s trimmed a bit or shaped from edges. This was the practice of the Salaf (righteous ancestors). I wanted to have a beard my self but it doesnt suit with my face cut I tried growing it numerous times but eventually shaved it off.

Also I remember I read it somewhere that Prophet (P.B.U.H) approved this practice as a sign of disntiction of beleivers from non believers. The Four schools of Islamic thought have a common consensus on the importance of growing a beard as well.

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

well i've heard from most scholars it is not Sunnah but Wajib. and Allah(SWT)knows best.

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

yeah maybe the “brother” in question would have found a better outlet of his rage in grooming and cleaning his beard.

and whats this with everyone becoming a poet..from a strictly poetic sense, the guy should not give up his day job or should continue to be on the dole rather than becoming a poet.

now here are some points to ponder

**There is beauty in the beard
Aye, there is beauty in the beard! **

in a clean, well groomed beard, i suppose..yes

**When the lion roars all the animals submit
For the lion is the king of the jungle
The lion with its glorious mane **

yeah but the lion lets the lioness do the hunting for him while he lazes around, and he does not wipe his butt after taking a dump, so is that cool too?

**Can one imagine a lion without its mane?
Nay, thou canst not!
Then imagine a man without his beard **

a damn billygoat has abeard too and so does a hamdryas baboon…if u catch mah drift.

A beard is a gift given to man
Something only he can grow; a woman never can!

the whole waxing, laser removal and hair removal cremes industry may disagree.

When he ponders, he gently strokes it;
When he eats, it stores food;

oh nice…lets store food in a beard.. what kind of an ass clown statement is this?
and i guess people who dont have beard can stroke their chin if they really want to when they are pondering, based on this dude’s last sentence in the poem, i doubt its his beard that he strokes when he “ponders”

when the enemy see it, fear is struck in their hearts!

There was this scrwany punk ass I knew, who had a bad attitude, I kicked his ass, and the beard dinn really scare me, but was good to grab on to during the fight.

**All the Prophets had beards - yes they did! **

There is no way of knowing, Quran has mentioned a few prophets by name, has not depicted facial characteristics of all prohets so the point is an assumption.

**All the wise have beards - tis true! tis true! **

so the wise will inlcude fidel castro, errr well saddam hussein now since he has a beard, who else ummm, daniel pipes, crusaders, who else..

**All the pious have beards - you see! you see! **

damn right boy, all em arab sheikhs are so pious

Who did not have beards? The kafirun!

un true, beard was a cultural thing in arabia and has been so it is unlikely that majority of them were clean shaven.

**
You would rather have a feminine monkey instead of an exalted manly ape! **

i dont think women would be interested in either, i mean what kind of choice is that anyways..dude this sort of errr marketing yerself aint gonna get you much love from the ladies..

**My glorious long, curly, messy, fluffy beard! **

munnay, safai nisf imaan hai, you read the words about the beard somewhere but not about hygiene

**Paradise with the wide eyed Houris is our final abode!!!" **

aa gayana ghhom phir kar khawaaree kay point parr..

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

Farudia miya. wah wah.

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

FRAUDIA NOOOOOOOOOOO you shall ROT in HELL for your baihayai, its becasue of men like you that innocent girls like me are led astray, you know whith your well groomed chiknai chehrai.

Indeed it is men like you who are a catalyst for our already suicidal and somewhat homisidal ummah.

ps: very funny :p

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

Re: Keep a beard ?? Why shud I ???

funguy and kaka, shukriya for finding humour in my very serious thoughts.

hiccup, oye sista..astaghfirallah, please do not blame your own indiscretions and lack of self control on clean shaven men like me. It is to avoid being made a scapegoat by ladies like you that I tape a costume beard to my face before going to ISNA
