You can’t expect the civilian leadership to “do” anything when the military leadership failed to act in protecting Pakistani sovereignty. Let us not forget that it was Kiyani who was contacted by the Americans AFTER the raid. What did that beygahirat do? Cry like a little girl and blame the politicians for not “doing enough.”
I was in Pakistan when the raid happened. Pakistan’s political class was STUNNED that this raid took place – from the MNA level all the way up to the Presidency. With the military leadership, looking like eunuchs that they are…all of a sudden you expect the President and Prime Minister to “make things up” and salvage Pakistan’s reputation – the same PM who was FORCED to give Kiyani and Pasha another extension? That is ludicrous!
Up until now, Pakistani military has called the shots – so what do you expect the politicians to do?
By the way, you did not answer the massive intelligence/security failures:

• Why was ISI unable to track Bin Laden?
• Why was there NO military response when the raid was occurring?
• What corrective actions have been taken to protect national sovereignty? PNS Mehran happened not too long after.

The three areas above fall under the control of the military NOT the politicians. Are Zardari/Gilani corrupt and self serving? Sure, but our reputation is in tatters because of Kiyani/Pasha – two of the weakest men in Pakistan.

I am not defending the failures of the army top brass, in fact I was outraged at what happened, but at the same time I am not going to defend the incompetents sitting in PM ans president house. All these guys who were “stunned” did nothing to fire the top military brass. Did they? Even when Pasha offered to resign the rubber stamp assembly refuse to accept his resignation. Our reputation is not in tatters only because of Kiyani/ pasha but all four of these guys. You might think zardari/Gilani are angels, which they are not. The difference between the civilians eunchs sitting in PM and president house and the ones sitting in the HQ is that after the debacle they are trying to do something to restore the lost confidence while the civilians are still “SUCKING” up to their masters in Washington. recent meetings clearly show that. That is what pathetic.

In the final analysis if any one of them had an ounce of sharam all four would have resigned.
