People are calling him American puppet, money hungry, useless, corrupt etc etc so it is a big deal if he man of principles and what's even more important is that he has never abused his power ( Remember he is one of the most powerful people on earth).
All i am saying is that Kiyani isn't an evil/corrupt person as some people would like us to believe so support the man as he is the BEST person to lead our forces.
I would love to agree with you, but I have become a bit more realistic after May 2, 2011, 1:30am. When his words echo in my ears that "we have broken the backbone of terrorism," I feel like screaming at the top of my voice. I am sorry if it sounds unpleasnt, I love my military, and perhaps that's why I want them to be the best and perhaps that's exactly why I don't want them to tell us a lie.
I always knew Kiyani was a very sensible person but he is an AMAZING guy, i was speaking to his VERY close relative and he told me some AMAZING facts about him. We are extremely lucky to have someone like him who works day and night to keep things in order. It's amazing that people call him money hungry and corrupt, one of his brother once held a top post in army but later started some business so Kiyani forced him to quit his job. His cousin (also brother in law) is driving taxi in Australia and according to him none of his family members are allowed to use Kiyani's name anywhere in Pakistan to gain any kind of advantage.
He is man of principles and is definitely working tirelessly, poor guy is highly stressed since Abbotabad incident and considers it one of his biggest failures.
he is better then what we have got in and out of parliament, although he have lots of work to do...specially when kind of zardari and gillanies are in power...
Army have to bow down in front of parliament. They have to leave the foreign policy. They have to stop meddling in everything. That's the only way out.
At least Kiyani is showing some concern and trying to pacify the situation, even though it does not justify his action in the recent past. But compare this with the two bayghairat and baysharam people sitting in PM and president house. Not a spec of concern or sharam on their part. That is the root problem.
Empty words don’t mean anything. He is pacifying the situation to keep his job, the morale of the Armed Forces is as low as 1971, people are openly questioning the function of the military, and our enemies have seen the critical weaknesses even in our supposedly well protected garrison cities. I am not here to support the PM or the President, but I will say this: First, The tracking/capture of OBL fell under ISI’s responsibility – with the ISI falling under the military NOT Interior Ministry’s command. Second, having non-Pakistani helicopters land without prior permission (even when its under the guise of NATO/Coalition forces) was the failure of the armed forces not Abbottabad police. Third, Kayani’s duplicity is evident when he “rails” against the drone strikes while secretly giving permission for them to take off from Baluchistan – both PM and President may be sell outs (to the US), at least they don’t pretend to be “outraged.”
I hope that there is an internal coup with Kayani, Pasha and other ghaddars being wiped out. They deserve to be court martialed for failing to protect Pakistan sovereignty. Am I harder on the Military than the Politicians? Yes, of course I am! The greatest failure was that an internationally recognized terrorist was caught near PMA and more importantly, the Americans were able to liquidate him without a basic response from the Pakistani military.
Kayani is one of our best ever generals, he is facing ,massive challenges right now but let's not get emotional and stay united.
We need to get rid of this ABSOLUTELY useless Zardari gang to solve half of our problems.
Get real. I have more links in the Pakistan Armed Forces than you might think. Can you name Kiyani’s accomplishments? Do you even know why he became the COAS under Musharraf? Until you can truly answer those questions, you have no clue.
At this juncture he and his lapdog Pasha are a black stain on the reputation of the military and, of greater significance, have dragged Pakistan’s reputation down to the ground.
Speaking as a nationalist, I could forgive them for letting OBL hide in Abbottabad – however the lack of response shows our enemies that they can pounce on us like the jackals they are!

Absolutely. We need to make a distinction between the sell-outs and the patriots even within the military. This joker has accomplished 2 things: Destroy the morale of the Armed forces and besmirch Pakistan's reputation in the world.

Please list the words and deeds of the PM and president in the immediate aftermath or even weeks after the incident. isn't it shameful that while the whole world knew what had happened it was total silence from these two. They are the head of the govt and the nation elected them not the military. yes kiyani is to be condemned on this incident but you can hardly say they are innocents because they simply did not pretend to be "outraged". Probably they were not because they were more concerned about their bountiful booties being cut off by America than the hurt of the nation.
Reply already posted but you didn’t read perhaps. I am sorry ,that is in Urdu but the bloody civilians can act only a puppet otherwise they could face like Liaqat Ali Khan,Sohrwardy and Bhuttos.

Zardari never ever leaves the presidency except when he has to go on foreign visits. His speeches are a tamasha, a national embarrassment. The less said about Gilani, the better. Not that their idiotic speeches matter greatly (we know there is little substance in their speeches anyway) but surely one of them should have taken the nation into confidence right after the OBL incident.
For all his shortcomings, Musharraf atleast had the guts and confidence to face the nation (right after the Lal Mosque Operation) and the world media (after BB's assassination)

Because 'Boots" can keep him down otherwise they kill who can speak.only one N$ escape alive only for a reason for being one from Lahore.
How convenient! What about after Taseer's cold-blooded murder? Should they not have faced the nation then instead of just issuing token muzammat/condemnation of the incident?

You can’t expect the civilian leadership to “do” anything when the military leadership failed to act in protecting Pakistani sovereignty. Let us not forget that it was Kiyani who was contacted by the Americans AFTER the raid. What did that beygahirat do? Cry like a little girl and blame the politicians for not “doing enough.”
I was in Pakistan when the raid happened. Pakistan’s political class was STUNNED that this raid took place – from the MNA level all the way up to the Presidency. With the military leadership, looking like eunuchs that they are…all of a sudden you expect the President and Prime Minister to “make things up” and salvage Pakistan’s reputation – the same PM who was FORCED to give Kiyani and Pasha another extension? That is ludicrous!
Up until now, Pakistani military has called the shots – so what do you expect the politicians to do?
By the way, you did not answer the massive intelligence/security failures:
Why was ISI unable to track Bin Laden?
Why was there NO military response when the raid was occurring?
What corrective actions have been taken to protect national sovereignty? PNS Mehran happened not too long after.
The three areas above fall under the control of the military NOT the politicians. Are Zardari/Gilani corrupt and self serving? Sure, but our reputation is in tatters because of Kiyani/Pasha – two of the weakest men in Pakistan.
They are all time fail to protect us but successful to remain us slave.
This is not a bad time than 1971.
But what they did with the bloody civilian who restored their dignity and the dignity of the nation . Who brought them back from the prisons of India, They not only hanged him but made false propaganda against him, many of you are still edict to that.
Kiyani and Pasha might be hardworking and patriots but they have proved to be incompetent at a number of occasions:
1) GHQ attack
2) Osama's hiding at a stones throw from PMA Academy
3) American operation deep into Pakistan without being detected by Pakistan military
4) PNS naval base attack
and numbers of bomb blasts all over Pakistan with ISI virtually invisible. The morale of the army is at the lowest after 1971. As far as discipline of the army is concerned the juniors as well as senior generals all of them are openly confronting the COAS (army high command), for maybe the first time in our history.
What else will force these incompetent fools to leave their posts?

Yaar you definitely win when it comes to links with armed forces as i have absolutely no link. I just had an opportunity to speak to his cousin and i was quite impressed with what he told me but if you know more about him than his cousin then you can probably enlighten us how he became COAS???
Musharraf made Kiyani as COAS, and the basic requirements for that post was someone who could take Musharraf's legacy forward and be pro American...Kiyani fulfilled both!

Well, good for him, but if "poor guy" can't perform than he should go. The country is more important than any individual.

by that logic, none of the army chief qualify for the job...so institute should be dismantled

I am not defending the failures of the army top brass, in fact I was outraged at what happened, but at the same time I am not going to defend the incompetents sitting in PM ans president house. All these guys who were "stunned" did nothing to fire the top military brass. Did they? Even when Pasha offered to resign the rubber stamp assembly refuse to accept his resignation. Our reputation is not in tatters only because of Kiyani/ pasha but all four of these guys. You might think zardari/Gilani are angels, which they are not. The difference between the civilians eunchs sitting in PM and president house and the ones sitting in the HQ is that after the debacle they are trying to do something to restore the lost confidence while the civilians are still "SUCKING" up to their masters in Washington. recent meetings clearly show that. That is what pathetic.
In the final analysis if any one of them had an ounce of sharam all four would have resigned.
