Re: Kathak Dance and Pakistan

How about this- do what you want and don't tell other people how to live their lives. I'll leave you in peace if you leave me in peace. Besides- just because Pakistan is an "Islamic" country doesn't mean everyone in it is a Muslim. And no, don't just say "then they should leave"- that's easier said then done when it comes to the country you were born and raised in.

Re: Kathak Dance and Pakistan

Khattak is simply a dance of joy.
Even better when our guys say some tunes to it.
In Baluchistan, sindhi, punjabi, pashtuun and hazaras have their friends to dance khattak at weddings etc. Its not any objectional thingy than punjabi guys doing banghra. At mix gatherings, which Ive attented male and female have done bhangra or at least waved their hands with some steps to the punjabi music. The farsi songs played in Baluchistan are freakin hard to dance to, if any would like to do so.

We dont hold huge mix gatherings at weddings or engagements. But for some split seconds when the couple are having their rasm done, FAMILY members might try to dance...often the in-law family...... Nodody dances together or women dancing in front of out commers.
However, at ladies side, in our family, we hire a farsi singer and request him to sing our fav songs or lastest popular ones. Its usually all the young girls having fun when its at end of the function, a closed family enjoyment.

You are soo right about that! Its very much fun!

Kathak is VULGAR??! Kathak?? of all dance forms, Kathak? i think ppl are mixing it with Mujra. no no, both are different.

here i see a big difference between Indian and Pakistani society. girls learning Kathak are actually thought to be cultured here.
