Yeah, but thats the sad part, they arent. If they were even remotely Arab, we might have seen a Kashmiri Spring aswell.
its tragic that these people can live like they do, with Kashmir being a virtual prison, and still not realize they have something to fight over.
It could be pschological. They have been beaten down so thoroughly, they no longer have the fight left in them.
Bingo!!!!
And not only them we too are beaten down. Its war which was fought and decided in the heads(some ppl say in the hearts)
Not every one can see beyond every days comforts on lives.(dont believe me read the replies above :D)
Specially when Pakistan can be presented as a ideal/dream state to them.

Yeah, but what more can we do for them beyond moral support? Im sure IF the Kashmiris were willing to fight, Pakistanis would stand shoulder to shoulder with them.
But if they arent willing to fight for themselves, how can we?
We can carry them on our shoulder for only s long. Eventually, they have to walk on their own. And i dont see them doing that.

I don't know... I am no Einstein :D
oh wait... I would hire some indians strategic planners to make us(PAK) a 100year plan to win back (O)kashmir from india.
Their plans to seem to works line charms..

lol... Their strategy is simple. Let the other side sit on the boiler, letting the steam build up to the point of being unbearable, until they explode.
Oh, and if in the midst of all this, one of the poor sobs sitting on the boiler thinks your stated strategy is anymore complex then it actually is, play it for what its worth, and hire yourself out for an obsene amount as consultant and squeeze the fool dry...
One thing I am pretty sure about is that Kashmiris do not want to be called Indians... I have never met a Kashmiri who wants to be called an Indian. If that was the case than what is the point of the whole 60 year struggle? But it's also true that support for Pakistan in their groups has decreased. Even the people residing in Azad Kashmir do not call themselves Pakistani anymore. They say what have Pakistani leaders done for us. Which means if there was a free referendum, majority of Kashmiris on both sides, would vote for an independent Kashmir.

I don't know if they want to be called Indian or not, but they sure as hell don't want to be called Pakistanis. And this is because I've met a lot of Kashmiris (one of my best friends is Kashmiri and a trip with him to Rawlakot was a real eye opener).
what a load of bull… Dont even try to make false general assumptions like that just because you have “many kashmiri firiends”.
Recently there was a news story about 2000 unmarked graves. Surely your “many kashmiri friends” or their relatives were not the victim of mass murder or they wont get angry about calling it Occupied Kashmir.
Its just a shame that private pakistani media is busy running the headlines about collections of Indian movies on box office rather than daily atrocities comitted by india in occupied kashmir.
Aljazeera recently started a section on their website:

Exacctly why they want the conflict to end. Most want independence, but if that doesn’t work out, they will settle for joining India. They certainly don’t want anything to do wiht Pakistan.
Heck, who in their right minds would want to join with Pakistan? Even our own provinces are trying to break away!

Wrong. Kashmiris are more similar to pakistanis than indian be it religion, language or skin color (no racism intended) so they would go with pakistan. Thats why india doesn't allow to act on that resolution in UN about the self-determination right.
Besides from kashmir there are many independence struggles going on in india so why would any one want to join them?
Last i heard Pakistan is ready to give self-determination right to kashmiris but india is not. Any idea why that might be?
