I came across a youtube link, then I googled more and found out what this horrendous practice is all about. After reading about various incidents, I kept wondering, how can these people even eat or sleep. Anyway, my question is how can we use Islam to educate people (especially the ones practicing this tradition) and somehow bring an end to this practice?

and if they you want them to re teach, its better to bring them up from society level they are living, under Jahil Pirs, Moulvies, Wadhre, Jagirdar, Jirgas, Punjaets etc etc..
they doing almost wheat there moulvies teaching them CLEARD. and they thinks its a very Islamic duties they are doing. in how some time local govt/ police support them too.

Should start at personal level & then it spreads.
Evil is evil no matter who does it. So those who have power to speak out, must speak out & spread the message.
i remember an interview of mr Mumtaz Bhutto (ex CM Sindh). when a journalist questioned him about the karo kari. After admitting that it is a bad practice he said that we shud look at the other side

actually majority of the NGOs working on this issue falsely presume that all karo kari cases are fake and are generally motivated by the monetary gains ......... that’s not the case always.
karo kari is practiced generally in those area where the ppl have got tribe traditions and they do not compromise on their honour.
beside changes made by the govt in the hadood ordinance i have heard that now sex with consent is no more cognizable offence ( provided: i havent gone through the ordinance).
*karo kari is a social evil but the alarming increase in the prostitution and adultery in our society is much bigger problem. *
*The solution for the above mentioned is to enforce punishment as suggested in quran (sura maida and other suras) i.e. stoning and lashes. *
Further we need to improve our judicial system as it is too slow thats y ppl generally opt for karo kari.

Well, there are also Ahadith that clearly indicate that Muhammad (PBUH) not only supported the act of Rajm but carried it out on from 2 lovers to a pregnant woman (who was stoned to death after she had given birth to her love child). I don't know, it doesn't seem so peaceful to me..

To be clear, lets substitute words here. After admitting that murdering and mutilating mostly women (more than twice as often as men according to pak senate) is a bad practice, we should look at the other side..
Assuming that were the norm for karo-kari, you would expect that atleast as many men as women would be killed. Again, according to the senate 2800 women and 1200 men have been killed in six years.
Clearly in a majority (ie 1600) of the cases, the scenario you’re painting doesnt apply.
It doesnt always have to be motivated by monetary gains to be ‘generally’ the case that it is.
But even if we grant that a sizable minority of the thousands of women killed over the years were innocent, to you its a cost-benefit analysis?

There is no ****ing positive correlation/causation between hudood laws and karo kari. The latter precedes the former by centuries. The latter has continued despite your beloved hudood laws. They are two sides of the same oppressive coin though.
On what scale are you measuring this? How much are the 1600 women killed without a partner in crime worth to you.
No not really. The solution to karo-kari is to criminalize it fullstop, close the loopholes these douchebags utilize, and pursue offenders as you would pursue any other murderer. Wont stop it like murder hasnt stopped, but will go a long way.

One should not try to justify one bad act with other.
In an act of zina both are involved so why woman only has to pay the price?
Why this honor thing belongs to certain situations only?
Why the screwed up justice asks for someone else to pay the price for someone's bad act...including a little girl?

what the prophet did is shariah NOT karo kari
and to clarify i dont agree with the half a$$ed attempts at enforcing shariah laws of Gen zia ul haq either.Islam is now complete and either we enforce it fully or not at all.
but karo kari is not the only evil in our society, so i dont understand the dispropotinate attention given to it.

no normal sane person will say karokari is a great tradition and should continue and ravage is also right that it has predated islamic laws by hundreds of yrs its a pre-islamic custom clothed now in a different garb.However lets not view this in isolation, we as a nation have done nothing to enforce shariah laws and in the last fews yrs have even taken a few steps backward.How can we then expect to eradicate these 2 problems of fornication and karokari ?
