ok so most of karma's ghararas that are made in the flowy sort of material are made of georgette chiffon. i've never heard of this kind of chiffon, so i'm wondering if it is widely available and how it is priced? i really want to get a gharara made with that material and not using jamavar... help!
also, as an aside, what kind of silk works best for a gharara kameez?
For gharara bottoms, they also have a material called Kundani zari and its really pretty! Kind of like jamawaar but more delicate. Also, they have a chiffon version of jamaawar (it has the motifs, but it's in chiffon--very delicate looking). Geogette chiffon is thicker than normal chiffon. You've got soooo many options there!
Re: Karma's Awesome Service
SGC, chiffon jamavaar will give you a very flowy look and also dress it up a bit. You won't need a lot of kaam on the gharara, or any kaam for that matter (dependeing on how heavy you'd want it to be) because it has motifs on it. Kundan zari is similar but pricier.
^ I agree..Blushing..organza is gorgeous however, it can make you look bulky since it's a pretty stiff fabric and requires lining as well.

Sooo okk. I ordered my bridal from karma (a dress that I've talked about in another thread- front open a line kameez and sharara) it was due on the 1st of December. I called them up on the 1st and they said oh yes your invoice says 1st but it will be ready by 10th.. they're like rush bahut hai give us a little more time ..bahut pyara ban raha hai aap ka bridal (BS!) anyway i didn't fight much since i still had a bit of time (big mistake) because had i pushed more.. like went up to the studio and really faught, they wouldve done something.
so anyway 10th i call and they say come on the 15th.. i go up to their studio and talk to this person in charge and she says 15th it'll b done. i go on the 15th -not done. sit in the studio. am told kaam is being done i demand pictures.. they make me sit for half an hour because apparently driver had to go pick camera from maheen's house :s.. and i still dont see pictures. this other girl calls me from karkhana after half an hour and says oh you see i cant take out dupatta from adda and send u pictures.. and other things are gone for stitching. if u come tomorrow u will get EVERYTHING . Next day i get a call by the girl in charge asking me when i was coming and that my bridal was ready... i go and they make me wait for half an hour .. make me try on clothes that my in laws had ordered for me (was SO not interested in them because i was worried sick ) and then these adday waley come with the whiole adda inside the studio with a sharaRA that was half complete.. dupatta 1/4th and no shirt.. my mom totally lost it at that point and gave them a piece of her mind.. the addey wala asked for 2 more days. I go today after 2 days obviously expecting the same BS but guess what i see: a gorgeous bridal with the perfect kaam and perfect fit :D
In conclusion- do not trust these designers with dates.. give them a date atleast a month before the actual one especially in high season such as this one. During my visits i saw quite a few pissed off customers. and atleast one demanding a refund (i was absolutely terrified as i thought i'ld be doing the same in a few days) It was a very stressful experience and a bride-to-be should not be subjected to so much stress.
As for karma i think they are GREAT value for money .. they have some amazing formal wear lately and really nice color combinations.. and even cuts. I think i will still order from them haha.
