does anyone have complaints about karma's embroidery? someone was telling me the designs are really thick and the embroidery is not that fine. do other people agree? is Karma more about trend, or is the embroidery just as intricate as other brands?
i dont have any complaints. and i liked a lot of their dresses when i went to go see them. why dont u ask them for a sample with a bit of embroidery so u can see for urself if u like it or not?
i've only seen karma pink in person in jan '08 and was seriously underwhelmed by the work on the clothes.
i have to say that i've always had that feeling about their outfits though. especially when you hear about people buying lengha's for under 2lakh. intricate kaam + designer brand, you'd expect prices to be a lot more. you could say that their just being reasonably priced, or it could be that their kaam just doesn't cost that much to produce. and i think copies of karma outfits are the ones you hear most often about being better than the originals.
karma pink is nothing spectacular. its casual and none of the things ive seen are worth purchasing. ive only somewhat liked a couple of pieces from that line and would probably never purchase them. and ive never seen a karma copy with my own eyes but i pretty much doubt that someone can make a copy better than the original regardless of who the designer is.
i intend on getting some samples, but i guess they want a commitment before i decide on placing the order. i just hope i'm not in and over my head. it's pretty risky that i'm buying stuff over the net and not going to Pakistan, especially when i'm so particular about the same stuff you girls seem to be particular about (kaam- the intricacy and neatness of it, the fabrics, how it feels on, the flow...).
hopefully i can get a sample and be pleasantly surprised. i was surprised myself about Karma's prices. the whole "designer" end has taken prices to new heights.

mmm, well i never went again. at that time there were some full looking formal outfits too and i was seriously like 'what?'; pretty shoddy to be honest.
never seen their bridals in person though, so can't really comment on that. just giving my feelings/thoughts. but i've often heard people comment on karma copies saying they look more well put together or have nicer work on them than the originals.
oops, and i just noticed afashionistalives that you're the thread started too. i hope i don't sound like i'm rubbishing your potential outfit.
i agree with sumo; getting a sample is really important. if you're particular about these things then you need to be happy with how it looks close up as well as the overall look.
no problem! i need as much advise/criticism as possible. i sometimes think i know what's in fashion...but living a million miles away from Pakistan...and trying to keep in touch...and be a bride without going there is tough. i haven't finalized the order just yet. i'm placing all orders in August. my wedding isn't till next year! i've got some time.
i'm scared to say this...but i might be the only person on this site not obsessed with Bunto? is something wrong with me? my aunt actually knows Bunto well...and i guess i could get a dress made from her, but i've only liked one dress ever, and its too similar to what i wore on my engagement, so i passed at the thought of having a Bunto. maybe i'm out of my mind, but it's too traditional for me? and why is most of the kaam in one shade? i guess the customization process could be fun, but since i won't be there, no point in dreaming about the idea of doing that...

i doubt you're alone and there's nothing wrong with that anyway!
some people will always prefer more traditional and other's more contemporary.
you need to go with a designer who's designs that attract you straight off. if you haven't warmed to bunto after seeing so many outfits, she's obviously not for you. what suits your taste and what you're comfortable in is way more important than what everyone is going crazy over right now.
who else do you like? if you have some time you could see how other designer's treat you and how willing they are to accommodate you ordering from abroad (in terms of sending samples, customisations etc).
but if you're truly happy with the karma outfits you've chosen then just forget about everything else and work on getting them to turn out how you envision them :)
to add to the thread I must agree that they are very polite and friendly
I just purchased a bridal dress a few other dresses from them and they were so helpful, patient and professional and are ready to work within in your budget

The GS Bunto obsession started a few months ago lol--before that it was virtuallly impossible getting a hold of her jora pictures on the net.
Everyone has their own taste and you are entitled to your own. Dont worry if ppl here love Bunto and you dont. If you dont fancy her deisgns, then she is not for you. If you would rather be a contemporary bride and go ahead! Afterall its YOUR day:):)
If you like another designer, try talking to them if u want a custom design--they'll probably be willing:)
There’s dabka, kora, rhinestones, pearls, and beading. There’s a very light airy effect of a Karma creation. From far the kaam looks as if its in the same color, but the detailing can be seen upfront.
There’s a mixture of dull gold and zinc color–for that reason the rhinestones/swarovski crystals shine like a chandelier being hit by a moonlight glow coming from a window.
Karma is more about the contemporary chic woman. Its young and fresh. If Bunto is Chanel, HSY is Dior, Umar Sayeed is Valentino, then Karma is Stella McCartney.
^^one note--if u are going with Karma and are getting gold jewelery--try having the dullest gold possible. In pictures, Karma appears more silvery and gold jewelery just looks odd with it
Has anyone ever ordered Karma clothes from their website? I contact them and they said clothes could be made in 3-4 weeks and then shipped. I'm worried about the quality of the clothes (especially since the prices a quite expensive). I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences to share...
I spoke to a guy from Karma yesterday, and he said online orders usually take about 40-45 days, and apparently (not sure how true it is) the outfits are cheaper online then they are in the actual store......
can anyone confirm or deny this? I can do both, my family in pakistan can get the stuff for me from the store or order online!

i agree with everything you've said but i'd remove HSY and the Dior comparison lol i like Dior way too much! :p
also, i don't know much about Umar Sayeed so I can't say if he's our "Valetino" or not, but with the other two, you're spot on!
ok so most of karma's ghararas that are made in the flowy sort of material are made of georgette chiffon. i've never heard of this kind of chiffon, so i'm wondering if it is widely available and how it is priced? i really want to get a gharara made with that material and not using jamavar... help!
also, as an aside, what kind of silk works best for a gharara kameez?
