Re: Karma...

I believe in karma. But I doubt the people who get their treatment back reflect on whether or not they wronged others.

Re: Karma...

I believe in karma. It's the short/broader word many of us use to represent the idea of "what goes around comes around." And I think that many religions support this idea.

In the Quran it says that we shall see the result of every atom of good and every atom of evil we do. And this supports the concept of what goes around come around in a way. And then there's a hadith in which the Prophet SAWS has admonished people from hurting or oppressing one another....because the dua of one who is wronged is accepted by Allah without any barrier.

We may not see the person who has hurt us get their "just desserts." Especially if you don't live with the person or interact with them often enough. But that doesn't necessarily mean that their life is perfect. And as a friend once told me...you can't use money/fame/a lavish house as a yardstick to measure happiness or success. You can have material things but could be lacking emotional security and peace.

A coworker once said that happy people don't treat others like dirt. And I think she's right. My former boss treated many people like crap. He walked around with a big grin pasted on his face...that fooled some people into thinking he was a happy/positive person....and kinda creeped out the students. But when you thought about it.....he had so many issues...frequently plagued by his own insecurities to the point that he seemed ridiculous to others. Yeah, sure, we call can be mean at times. But someone who is always a jerk is not so happy in their own life. They could be suffering but you may not see it. And there are some people who can humble themselves enough during a hardship to ask themselves if they're being punished for hurting someone in the past. These people might even learn a a lesson and mend their ways. And there are other people.....as mentioned by the wise Mistral.....who will suffer karma and will never reflect upoon how the hurt others previously. They're that obtuse....it's like there's a parda on their eyes, ears, and heart. Still, not the happiest life...even if the individiual feels no guilt or regret over past wrongs.

Re: Karma...

Am I the only one of any body else who feels mesmerised by RedVelvets posts.

Dont mean to suck-up or anything but. It is as if God just wrote this. Or some Advanced Philosophy book page here.

People - note the relevant harsh and seriousness of the post too.

RedVelvet-answer one question pls.

If those who are not there to see the 'Just desserts' of those who wrong them...then what gain or care would it be to them?

Waiting for an insightful post.

i just got a little morally scared check myself. I hope I havnt wrong anyone

Ok coming back to reality mode.

Re: Karma...

^LOL. My ideas are not novel. They've been mentioned by others in this thread and in other similar threads, though each person's wording may be different.

To answer your question....(I don't have an exact answer to this question and to many questions)

It could depend upon your beliefs. I've heard that scores will be settled on the Day of the judgement. I've even heard that there will a court to settle issues. Perhaps if you don't witness the person getting their "just desserts" in this world........maybe you'll see it in the next world. If you believe in a Day of Judgment....where justice will be done...perhaps this view can bring some peace.

There's the saying that the best revenge is to lead a happy life. Sure, it's easier said than done. But spending every waking minute of your life in the hope that the offender is being punished...........not only does the negativity consume you.......it's unhealthy (stress related illnessess)............and in such waiting.......you can end up not living your own life to the fullest. Those moments that you wasted wishshing that XYZ is leading a miserable life.....could have been spend doing something positive for yourself. So, in a way, you're making your own life shorter. You can wait and there's a chance that you may not see the just desserts....or you can try to learn from a negative situation and try to move forward with your life.

Your "gain" may not necessarily be that person's misery. Your "gain" could be strength, development of character, some lesson you learned. What you might have perceived as a "loss" could actually open the door or pave the way toward a more positive opportunity in the future. Maybe your "gain" could be better than another person's suffering.

I dunno. I sway back and forth. There are a few people I would like to see not only get their just desserts but also come to the realization and feel shame for their offenses. But then I remind myself....that I'm only wasting minutes off my life and making it shorter for people who I don't owe anything to....and who aren't worth it.

Re: Karma...

That i missed

I m eating chips and watching it.

I personally see karma as more of a hindu concept: if you misbehave in this world, you'll come back as a frog in the next janam type stuff. I will never believe that a person deserves to get cancer, or live a life of poverty...to me that's just life..not karma

And its really sad if people are only doing good deeds out of fear/fear of punishment and karma

1) yes you were
2) yes it would.

Re: Karma...

Hmm. Yes Rv. I never knew that There would be a earth like court and redemptions that day. It brings some peace.

I meant that your post was a comprehensive and complete answer to the post.

I dont know how others see it. lol...z

Re: Karma…

If that existed I’d probably come back as me :omg:

Agree RV. For me a person who does bad in the world most of the time gets his ar*e bitten one way or another
