Karma ripped me off

Dear Guppies.

I am new here. I have been regular reader for many many years.
But now I have something to share with you guys. Which is why i have started this topic.

This is the long story about my two outfits that i had ordered from their Karma red collection

First of all, you all have mentioned severel times about how difficult it is to get a hold of karma ppl. Specially for us who are living overseas.

Well finally i got a hold of this lady at Karma, named Nida.
We finalized the outfits and the price for them aswell.

She told me the western union number, i sent her 75% of the amount.
After she recieved them. First of all she totally vanished. I mean there would be gone dayyyys, and i would not have herd a single thing from her.
In my previous mails i kept asking her for her cell number. Which turned out to be a non working cell number.
As i said, it was such such a big difficulty to get a hold of her.
And when she would reply, she would write very little, and she would never answer any of my questions.

In the end after tons of mails, I got an agreement from her, how my outfits would be like, colourwise etc.
We had an agreement on on the neelo outfit, the dupatta would be orange.
And my dupatta would have the outer line sequenced border as on the picture. And smal motifs on the dupatta.
I made sure i got an written mail from her on that, which i did get.

For the anjali outfit, we agreed yet again on the dupatta colour border and etc.

I had asked about the fabrics obviously for the both outfits.
I was told the angali outfit as khaadi rawsilk.

Now after the 75% payment. I did not hear from her in weeks. And i kept calling and mailing her. In the end i got really pissed, and said i would call Mahreen Kardar directly and tell her about the poor service she is giving me.
Then right away she sent me a meassurement form.
After sending it back to her filled. Again she vanished.
I mean this just went on and on. At the end i was really worried that she is going to screw up my outfits.
After one month, i started to write to her again, asking about when my delivery is going to be fine.
After a couple of mails she wrote to me my meassurements are not enough, i need to send it again.
Now i was pissed, couldnt she had asked me about this crap before. I mean after ONE MONTH ?! and i said to her i have filled absolutely the whole damn form, and i have no idea what i could fill out more.
Again, she vanished. errrrrrrr
After AGAINNNNN severel mails, and calls, she wrote just one like send us rest of the money your outfits are ready to be dispatched. I was like WTH ?!
well i sent her rest of the amount.
And i wrote an mail with the money tranfer information etc.
She jus wrote one mail that she will let me know about the tracking number.
And this time this woman dissapeared totally. I was soooooo worried and stressed that maybe i have been scammed or something. I had no idea what was happening. After almost a week and after severel EVIL mails, i got a reply from another karma staff member. That my order is on the way and they gave me my tracking number. My order was in the country but had not been delivered. I called up fed ex gave them my package number. And the woman told me the house number was not correct.
Fine all that got fixed.
My parcel came after the weekend.

And now i with huge exitement opened my package.
And i was SO dissapointed !! I ofcourse understand that in the pictures clothes look different, beecause of graphic manipulation, retouch, blabaa.
But seriously girls, the outfit material was so so so cheap !!!
The neelo outfit, was such a crap material, arrrrgh !! the embroidery was soo loosened, the dhabka works threads were not in palced firmly, the stones were loose, the outfit fabric had loosened threads all over the shirt.
The neckline was not similiar as in the picture.
The colour WAS NOT as we had agreed on. It was this very dull mustard colour. and not even near orange.
And the worst thing, that broke my heart was the dupatta. It had two sequenced line border.
And even worse thing is, the sequence on the shirt, and the dupatta, the sequence colour are all faded off, the gold sequences werent fully gold. I was so dissapointed man. There is this a bit thick piping of the dull mustard colour, which is very very un evenly sewn. You can see it on the side on the hemline, that they are both very uneven. Overall i swear you guys, the embroidery looks so cheap man, that i could had gotten a karighar from karachi to get it done very elegantly, with my choice of stones sequences etc.
Shameful.

The angali outfit. Dont know where to start.
First of the shirt was made out of NET (khaadi rawsilk??!) the embroidery was not of stones, as i was told. The necklines work was suppose to go below the bust area. And it wasnt even half way down embroidered. The embroidery was from some places fallen off. There is this ugllyyy brown spot on the front side of the shirt.
And these very very weird white stains are all over the shirt.
I mean very very ugggly white stains, that are very spreaded out on the shirt. The shirt has on the side a zip closure on it, and if you see that, it has this big CHAAI ka nishaan on it. So charming !!!
The dupatta on the contrary is fine.

Man i was so sad, i seriously did not even try them on. Coz i was so dissapointed.
I wrote the karma people again, and have complained about this.
But surprise surprise. No one has replied me back.
And i do not expect a reply either.

I know alot of you might have had a very sunshine experience with them.
But mine was definately not good.
I was ripped off, they took so much money from me. And i gained nothing.
I am never going to buy anything from these freakheads,

If they write to me (yeah right) i will definately let you guys know.
Thought i would share my story with you.

I would not reccomend anyone to purchase anything from them.
Its not worth it. You can get it made from pakistan, and you will be in full control over your clothes.

Please save some money ! and dont let these idiots get our/our parents/husbands hard earned money. They dont deserve it.

Thank you for taking ALOT of time out to read my thread !

xx

Re: Karma ripped me off

oh man! sorry to hear about this horrible experience with karma...post pictures of the outfits please so we can see too.

Re: Karma ripped me off

omg that's horrible! Y haven't u called, yelled and cursed them out yet? Don't let this issue go. Get them to send you new outfits. That's horrendous.

I think a smart thing to do in such a situation for future customers would be to ask them to send pics of the completed outfit before sending in the final payment. And definitely stay in contact with these people thru the phone.

Re: Karma ripped me off

thats horrible!!! my first thought though, is that maybe you did get scammed... as far as i know, their fb contact through which orders are placed is a woman called parkha zeb, not nida. i'm thinking someone took your money pretending to be karma and that might also explain the disappearances?? OR she did work for karma, but was taking false orders on the side, and then sent you whatever she could put together cheaply under karma's name? that whole disappearing thing seems weird... but then again, after what i went through with my friends and that rubbish Hajra Hayat, it might just be that they're no good either!!! how utterly disappointing.... pakistani designers really need to shape up!!!!

Re: Karma ripped me off

^ that seems alot more likely.. in any case it's sad, ive heard only good stuff about Karma. Horrible.

Re: Karma ripped me off

Yeah are you sure you were dealing with the Karma people? In any case, it's really sad that they did this to you. I was thinking of ordering my wedding outfit online from one of the designers but after these horrible experiences, I have changed my mind. You can't trust them at all! You have to be physically there to see the actual outfit.

Re: Karma ripped me off

omg R_C that's horrible! I cannot believe what Karma did to you. I was hinking about ordering from their pinkline for my brother's wedding. Now I am scared. Please please don't let this issue go. Would you mind post pics of the outfit?

Re: Karma ripped me off

hey reality check please post up your pictures along with the pictures u saw on net.

Re: Karma ripped me off

OMG i feel soo soory for u. i swear i wuddd b heartbroken ifd at happened to me.. omgg hun u shud sew dem and try gettin ur money bac

Re: Karma ripped me off

That's horrible..!! Sorry to hear about you experience.. I hope you'll be able to get some of your money back.. teach them a lesson in a way..

Re: Karma ripped me off

Nida apparently is one of the contacts at karma as Parkah Zeb has suggested someone to email nida at Karma to ask price and details. Its awful what you went through. We would love to see pics of their "work" that they sent you.

Re: Karma ripped me off

When all this was happening, why did you not call/email/message Maheen Kardar??? I would do that right away if anyone disappeared with the deposit and didn't reply back for months. That was the bad sign as it is in the beginning, I don't think you should have proceeded with this woman after that.

Re: Karma ripped me off

Oh my goodness!!! What a horrible story!!! Maheen Kardar is on facebook--did u try e-mailing her??? or calling her in Lahore?

Like SGC, I always thought Parkha Zeb took care of everything.....that's who I e-mailed for my order.....

i’m sorry that happened to you but from the start this so called nida was acting shady, why would you order outfits from a company that has poor customer service?

i would have never paid the other 25% with the way you were being treated and i would tell them i wanted a full refund. whats the point of ordering clothes from ppl that won’t get back to you, or worse do a month later only for you to re-send your measurements.

random but my best friend wore this to her dholki and it reminds me of that nilo outfit

her mom got it made for her for about $45.00

Re: Karma ripped me off

woww…i dont even now what to say…this is like 100th thread of bad experience with pakstani designers. Post your story here on the FB group:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=51276162022
Your bad experiences with Pakistani ‘Designers’

you should immediately contact the primary/original designer…

Re: Karma ripped me off

please take DETAILED pictures, and write this on the facebook group.
if maheen kardar is not available via phone, fret not because there is no way she will pretend to be unavailable after a detailed confrontation is brought to her attention via the group.

Re: Karma ripped me off

I would make sure this is actually THE Karma before ruining their name. I was also in contact with Karma and dealt with Sumbul and Parkha.

Re: Karma ripped me off

Reality_check will you be posting the pics here?

Re: Karma ripped me off

I am SO SORRY to hear about this situation (regardless of whether or not it was Karma or an impostor). After going through this process myself, I would be heartbroken if my outfits came back the way you've described them. Listen to girls above, some have had similar experiences with other designers. Take pictures and post them up ALL OVER THE INTERNET!

I am certain this will solicit a response from Karma, and worst case, you will discourage other unsuspecting would-be brides. I hope you're prepared to fight some more!

We're all here for you!

Re: Karma ripped me off

OMG! This is horrific! Shame on these "designers" who trick us poor desi sisters living in the diaspora....
