The fig leaf on Kargil operation has been removed by Nawaz Sharief in a public rally. He has publically stated that as PM of Pakistan at that time “he claimed the blame of Kargil war to save army’s image.” So it is about time the air is cleared over what happened in Kargil. I hope that once he is back as PM he constitutes a committe to look into the Kargil debacle and punish the people responsible for it …
He revealed that the Kargil operation was planned and executed by the army under the then COAS General Parvez Musharraf’s leadership without his knowledge.
Nawaz Sharif said Musharraf launched the Kargil operation soon after the visit of former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Lahore.
Nawaz said he established contact with the then United States President Bill Clinton when Indian PM Vajpayee informed him of the Kargil operation. He said despite his busy schedule, Clinton met wit me (Nawaz). Nawaz said he claimed the blame of Kargil war to save army’s image
Very Sad. Do you know why these so-called** Shareefs** selected this time for this "braveness"
They have perhaps learnt that America is angry with Pakistani Government on Swat agreement **so they started this. Shame...... Motorway leader
I am ashamed of being a Pu..... now
Remember his talking few days before.
**Please must listen his weaping story of prison.
Than ask anyone aware.....
It was less than 10% of what he did with Zardari (Twice)
Compare him with Zardari Zardari is thousand time brave than him.
If he could not know about Kargal being so powerfull prime minister who sacked a presedent and an Army chief and attacked on Supreme Court and removed Chief Justice and was able to almost control media by downing Jang than he has no right to claim to be a leader
Dont believe on him
He can leave you all after an agreement for a perioud ( 5 to un-limited years) to save his money.
NS might not be very sharp but he certainly is no traitor. Gen Gulzar confirmed last year that Kargill blunder was Mushy scheme and NS was deliberately not informed.
I don't believe Nawaz didn't know about Kargil, while meeting with Clinton NS tried to use Kargil has blackmail for Kashmir issue. NS probably is betting on awaam's short term memory.

Its pretty well established fact that NS did not know until Vajpayee called him & said is this what you invited me Lahore for? NS was surprised as well, but guess who else knew? The Americans & the reason Mushrraf staged coup was to save his ass from being court-martialed. Month before the coup Americans knew that Mushrraf was preparing for coup & even Mushrraf has now admitted in his own book "In the Line of Fire".

What I know about Pakistan army is that it is running DHA, Fauji Foundation, Fauji Cement, Fauji Fertilizer, Clubs and Beaches. At the same time indulging in blunders like Kargil.
The elite of the military enjoys all the 'fruits' and is proud of conquering Pakistan time and again while the 'jawaans' have to suffer through their opportunistic decisions.

All those organizations you mentioned above were made to Support Army Budget so there should be less burden of Economy bcoz of Army.
Kargil was not a Blunder , it was a Perfect plan which was Spoiled by an Idiot like Ganja Shrif.

I wonder if you get training to run corporations in military. Clubs and beaches to support budget? c'mon, give me a break. But then, they don't train people for running a country either.
Kargil, a perfect plan? Now that's hilarious! You plan to infiltrate into enemy territory and expect no reaction? Wow! I'm sure you'd consider Lal Masjid as perfect plan too? Every situation does not have a military solution!
Suggesting that Kargil war had been a debacle for Pakistan, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today said the then Army Chief Gen Pervez Musharraf had virtually pleaded with him to talk to President Bill Clinton to "somehow" ensure an end to the conflict.
Sharif maintained that the war of 1999 had been initiated by Musharraf by attacking India without his knowledge but he (Sharif) had taken "responsibility for everything to save military's reputation and dignity".
"Musharraf attacked Kargil and I had no information about this military operation," the PML(N) president told a meeting of party's general council at Raiwind in Lahore.
"I came to know of it when I got a phone call from (then Prime Minister Atal Bihari) Vajpayee 'saheb'. He asked me -- 'what have you done after I returned from your country with good feelings... Your army has attacked our army'," he said.
Sharif said he then called up Musharraf and the latter confirmed what Vajpayee had said.
Vajpayee had undertaken a bus ride to Lahore on February 19, 1999. The Kargil conflict began three months later.
Apparently hinting that the Pakistani military action had proved to be a disaster, Sharif said, "You all know what were the consequences of that war. Musharraf asked me to contact Clinton and somehow ensure an end to the war."
