The book “*Ham Bhi Wahan Mojod Thay” *written by **Lt General (retd) Abdul Majeed Malik **details how Musharraf made the whole Kargil plan solely and didnt involved very closest of his like Gen Kayani and then PM Nawaz Sharif.
But the most upsetting revealation to me is that the briefing given to PM NS was tapped by Indian intelligence. Seriously??!!
****ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister Lt General (retd) Abdul Majeed Malik has disclosed that General Pervez Musharraf kept former army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani in the dark while carrying out the Kargil Operation in 1999.
Malik, in his book Ham Bhi Wahan Mojod Thay, has made startling revelations regarding the Kargil adventure and shared his secrets. He has written that at the time of Kargil Operation, General Kayani was heading 12 Division that was responsible to guard Kashmir.
However, the former military ruler General Musharraf did not keep Kayani in the loop, who later opposed the operation. He said Musharraf was entirely responsible for the operation and he did not even brief the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif about his plans.
He has disclosed that General Musharraf called his chief of general staff from China to seek details of the briefing given to prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Kargil Operation – a briefing that was tapped by Indian intelligence agencies.
It was a grave breach of security to discuss such a sensitive issue on telephone call, Malik wrote. According to him, Nawaz Sharif made a wrong decision when he appointed General Ziauddin Butt as army chief after dismissing General Musharraf.
The book shares how Pakistan conducted atomic tests. Malik has given full credit to Nawaz Sharif, who, according to him, was mentally ready to go for atomic tests despite opposition from certain close cabinet members.
He has written that had Raja Zafarul Haq been picked as acting president of the party instead of Javed Hashmi during Nawaz Sharif’s exile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz would not have faced splits.

Re: Kargil operation: Musharraf kept NS and Kayani in dark
If it was tapped by indian intelligence, then good that nawaz wasn't told anything in that briefing.
Btw, can a COAS micromanage all of this as Northern light infantry (later became part of SSG due to good performance ?) was tapped and kiyani still didn't know?? Airforce or navy not knowing is one thing as they are a separate branch, but there are protocols in the army.
Re: Kargil operation: Musharraf kept NS and Kayani in dark
well there are processes/protocols defined for everything. If there is anything going wrong you have to fix it, not avoid it.
If Musharraf thought that the briefing to PM is tapped by India then find the culprits, their spies with the top layer rather than not letting so important positions know and have a venture on his own. But again, thats what pretty much he did in his 9 yr tenure as well
Re: Kargil operation: Musharraf kept NS and Kayani in dark
These sold out characterless ex army generals like Abdul Majeed Malik blatantly lie in their books or on TV, and then some ignorant people accept their lies (not because they do not know these corrupt liars are lying, but because what they lie is what these ignorant want to hear).
Fact is that, people like NS and Zardari are not only corrupt and characterless thugs, but are blatant liars, who pay others (or buy others) to lie and do propaganda. Anyhow, after book of Abdul Majeed Malik, a program came on TV (sawal yea hay) that confirms Abdul Majeed Malik and Nawaz Shareef, both are blatant liar, and are lying regarding kargil. Here is the program on the issue:
Re: Kargil operation: Musharraf kept NS and Kayani in dark
Like traitor Mush
No ... Mush was not traitor but stupid. He should have hanged traitor Nawaz, traitor BeNazir and corrupt characterless parasite Zardari and thus save Pakistan from their evils. So, you can say that Musharraf action to let Nawaz, Zardari and BeNazir live and harm Pakistan was intentional, than Musharraf qualify as traitor.
Anyhow, what you think about traitor family 'Bhuttos' of Pakistan ... and his party of criminals and thugs 'Pio, pilao aur Photu'?
This family of Bhutto are born traitors. Traitor Bhutto sold out his soul to Indra Gandhi and did everything resulting in division of Pakistan, later this traitor sold a part of Pakistan (Kargil heights) to Indra at Simla. He was traitor just like his father (Shahnawaz Bhutto), who sold Part of Pakistan (Junagarh) to Nehru (father of Indra Gandhi).
Just like father and grandfather, sons of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto were also traitor and terrorists. They worked for India, started Al-Zulfiqar with help of India, and fought Pakistan to divide Pakistan, hijacked Pakistani aircraft and killed many innocent Pakistanis.
Daughter BeNazir was traitor too, who sold Pakistani interest to Rajiv Gandhi, handing him names of Sikh freedom fighters. This women with his corrupt and characterless husband, looted, destroyed and harmed Pakistan more than any person (other than traitor Nawaz).
Now, because of Musharraf letting these parasites have their day, we might see in future, Haram-kee daulat say pala hua Bilawal to fool Pakistanis.
Re: Kargil operation: Musharraf kept NS and Kayani in dark
Mush the traitor deserved a court martial after Kargal
Ultimately hanged till death or a firing squad but the traitor captured Pakistan and killed many more
Re: Kargil operation: Musharraf kept NS and Kayani in dark
How is he giving insider information when he was not even on the inside? Retired ages ago, and himself a PMLNer, its difficult to expect neutrality from him. But then again, writing books/memoirs is easy money. so why not.

He was not mojood in the GHQ when Kargil operation was hatched. He retired from army in 1974. And he has been in the Noon league from Chakwal constituency for a while. You can guess where his loyalty lies.
