kareley

I still find them very bitter, but I find that I can eat them when they’re cooked with lots of onions, because it takes some of the bitterness away.
Can you guys eat kareley?

:yummy: … yes i can :yummy: … but i am not a guy … :stuck_out_tongue:

okay you're a bhens :)

I find them very bitter to eat too. I know that one way to get rid of the bitterness is to boil the chopped karaley first and drain the water away. Then cook as normal. At home we used to give the boiled karaley several changes of water to get rid of every last bit of bitterness and they used to taste so sweet. Although this is just adding extra work to the whole cooking.

Although some people will say that the bitterness is whats good for you and you're getting rid of all the nutrients.

I love kareley, especially with onions and diced tomatoes. :yummy:

Yeah Shahreen all that boiling is bound to make them lose their goodness, but it's a good idea nonetheless.

I guess the tomatoes help too eh Fret.

ohh … i was just fooling around … :stuck_out_tongue: … as shahreen said you can boiled them but you can also deep fry them (replace with the boling part) i had open a similar thread before here it might be of some help …

I can not eat kareley.

oh … but they are so :yummy::stuck_out_tongue:

yeah I can eat them But not a big fan of karelay ....

wasay my amie makes the best masalay walay /bharay houay karelay :)

i think if cooked properly they are quite tasty:yummy: i had them yesterday… but all my siblings think theyre yuck!

Karelay are simply awesome! My mom peels and salts them and then leaves them for a day. After that you have to squeeze as much water out as you can and then she browns them in a frying pan before she cooks. They turn out great, and hardly bitter.

every last bit of bitterness? does it still taste like a karela?

i agree with every comment  except the browning bit … i used to dislike karelay but now as i have grown up i liek them alot

the way my mom cooks them theyre not bitter at all :yummy:

karelay and baingan are two veges that I have never ate in my life. No matter how they are cooked. But I know Karelay are good for health…my mom eats them.

Same with ‘BUT’…its like ojeRi the inner layer of tummy which holds stomach, instentine, liver etc etc…Once it was made in our neighbourhood and the smell was so terrible that I had to escape from the area until the atmosphere was cleared. Some ppl find it extremely tasty…I think its gross. Are gonna eat horns ‘seeng’ of the animals once day

Until last year I didn't even eat them at all. I'm still not really a big fan of kareley, but I find them quite ok now.

thats the same way i cook them … tasty … :yummy:

I Love kareley..i just slice it up add some salt, haldi, chilli powder and grill it until golden brown..I love em as bitter as it comes :yummy:

I know that we shouldn't hate food! But I really dont like Kareleys .. only the filled with the keema ones are somehow okay.
