Kareena demeaning King Khan???

Aamir Khan, the perfectionist Khan of bollywood who plays lead in Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming college caper ‘3 Idiots’ opposite sizzling hot Kareena Kapoor, has been anointed by the ravishing beauty as Emperor of bollywood( remember Shah Rukh Khan is referred to as ‘King’, and the title ‘Emperor’ is a notch higher than that).

Kareena Kapoor was speaking at an event to promote her upcoming flick, but her statement has sent shockwaves through the corridors of bollywood. In fact, Kareena Kapoor had gone to the extent of saying that without working with Aamir Khan in ‘3 Idiots’, her bollywood career would have been incomplete.

Bebo felt that Aamir Khan was the ultimate icon in bollywood and if any actress did not get a chance to work with him in a flick, her acting career would not be taken seriously by the posterity.

The industry watchers are viewing this Emperor statement of Kareena Kapoor as an effort on her part to distance herself from Shah Rukh Khan, with whom she worked in a mega- budget flick ‘Asoka’( though, it has bombed at the box office). In any case, Shah Rukh Khan’s magic seems to have been waning at the box office, and in bollywood, nobody likes a sinking ship.

On the other hand, Aamir Khan has been growing stronger with every new release of his films. In fact, it is only Aamir Khan who has been churning out hit flicks in a sequence—like ‘Lagaan’, ‘Fanaa’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Ghajini’ and now upcoming ‘3 Idiots’.

Aamir Khan’s success is more remarkable as it has come without any help from big banners like Yashraj Films (read Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra) and Dharma Productions(read Karan Johar), which have been backbone of Shah Rukh Khan’s success at the box office.

Sources close to Kareena Kapoor says that she knew of the rivalry between Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan very well and was thus trying to remove the misconception from Aamir’s mind that she was more with SRK than him.

In any case, Shah Rukh Khan has been facing problems in retaining her close friends as was evident when close friend Farah Khan chose to leave him and opted Akshay Kumar for her new project ‘Tees Maar Khan’. Farah had directed Shah Rukh Khan’s home productions ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Main Hoon Naa’, and was considered to be family.

Even Yashraj Films, which has always preferred Shah Rukh Khan over other bollywood heroes, started casting Ranbir Kapoor in their movies. Insiders say that Shah Rukh Khan’s days are passé at Yashraj after the rise of Ranbir Kapoor, as the latter seems a tailor made choice for the mushy flicks that Yashraj banner churns out.

‘3 Idiots’ is a story of three students of a prestigious engineering college played by Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R Madhvan. Kareena Kapoor plays love interest of Aamir Khan and the two are said to have shown crackling chemistry in a rain song-dance sequence. The movie is due for a worldwide release on 25th of December.

Why is it so shocking that "loyalties" change in the entertainment business? Why is such news big enough to make the headlines? The entertainment industry is very very very FICKLE! Relationships are rather shallow in tinsel town. Sucking up, switching allegiances, dropping friendships, befriending former enemies. It's all part of the game. Everyone wants to get to the top. So, what do you do? You kiss up to an already established celebrity or director hoping that they will either throw you a bone or give you some tips. Or you apologize (if your pride can bear it) and befriend a former enemy who has now risen to the top and could prove beneficial to you in some way. Or you make and break connections depending upon an your insecurities and whom you see as a threat.

It's sad, really. And is it really any surprise that Kareena Kapoor would "demean" SRK? Kareena has NEVER been known in Bollywood for her character or personality. From day 1, from her very first step into Bollywood, she's been perceived by others as snobby and conceited. She once cried and apologized to Amitabh for letting her arrogance get in the way and she was only a newcomer at the time. Her gori chambri might make her among the prettier heroines, but her character definitely lacks grace.

And if Saif starts losing popularity and market in the near future, I wouldn't be surprised if she ditches his a$$ as well. She's a fickle person. And I've never been crazy about Farrah Khan or her brother, Sajid Khan (whom I find annoying and not amusing).

hmmm she hasnot said anything directly about srk khan...well she is praising amir and called him an emperor than its no big deal since its her choice...she can like amir over srk or srk over amir...

well srk remains the king...amir can never take his place :)

The article said that a source close to Kareena reported that Kareena knew that there was rivalry between the two Khans and she made that comment to remove the misconception from Aamir's mind that she was on Team Sharukh.

The girl is chalak but not bright enough. She was not obligated to make such a statement. She could have opted to stay quiet or she could have praised Aamir without delegating any royal titles to him. That would have been the more tactful thing to do. Now in the event that she has offended SRK, he might be less inclined to work with her if he manages to recover his previous star status at the box office.

Kareena is in the entertainment business. She's not stupid. She KNEW that there was competition between both Khans. And surely she would have known that such a comment would be scrutinized by gossip mongers and the media. She could have been trying to instigate some sparks with her comment.

As far as Aamir is concerned, if Kareena was trying to remove misconceptions from his head, then that only reflects Aamir's insecurity. Was he making indirect teasing remarks such as, "Oh you like SRK better than me" in the hopes that she would say something to validate his ego? Surely a star such as him who has produced one hit after another would be more secure with himself and would not require an actress, especially the fickle Kareena, of all people to remove his "doubts."

And so much weight should not be given to Kareena's comment anyways. She's so fickle that she'll be back to praising SRK if things start looking up for him. She knows that her time as a Bollywood heroine is more limited. As she ages, the roles will dwindle and the directors will seek out newer and fresher faces even though they can't act to save their lives. So, she's going to do whatever it takes to maintain her queenly position for as long as she can even if that means being catty and playing dirty.
