Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and government)

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

Orangi, Katti Pahari and Lyari are symbols of three ethnic strong holds
**These are developed as the hideouts of criminals and major problem is the support of criminals .

Iam sorry to say that only Meethadar area could have little effect of **Lyari **and rest mentioned areas are only controlled by so-called **Orangi group .

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

Thanks for such detailed insights about KARACHI from a RAWALPINDI resident. ;)

I would say we rely on news items instead of just giving our opinions. How about that?
The best thing would be to quote the traders themselves instead of quoting politicians.

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

You know we can not rely on our media , Media works direct under establishment control and some fear and interests .
There is no truth available on this subject . And just like corruption of Pakistan , this terrorism of Karachi is like a family business . Even style of living .

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

I am not talking about opinions from media anchors but the news reports published. Such reports can not be manipulated. For example, when a president of a trade organization says something then the media has to publish it just like that.

When oppression happens against any group then usually it is that oppressed group which knows where the oppression is coming from. Everyone else can merely give their opinions.

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

its all Punjab's fault. seriously

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

*khuda ko maano, yaar.
*How did you get this impression? Punjab has got nothing to do with it.

Re: Karachi’s business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

The biggest culprit allowing this menace to continue is the police force. Policemen are appointed on the basis of party affiliations. This is what traders are saying.
So who is appointing such policemen who are accomplices with extortionists?
Why is police under pressure to let extortionists play havoc in the city? Who is doing it?

Economic activities in Karachi shrinking fast: traders

Talking to Business Recorder, a number of traders at the old city area markets showed disappointment over the weak police action against what they said powerful extortionists in the metropolis, saying that “businesses are facing historic threats to its existence in Karachi.”

In a statement on Thursday, AKTI Chairman said police should be given permission to take indiscriminate action against criminals and remarked their performance could never improve** if they remain under pressure from their high ups**.

Re: Karachi’s business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

^ Wouldn’t it make the politicians who appoint such policemen the biggest culprits?

PPP Sindh is notorious for selling jobs as well.

Re: Karachi’s business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

The biggest losers in all of this would be the residents of Karachi. Businessmen will only move to other areas within the country or abroad where they will think they will have better law and order, but i Dont think many people within the city care about what their future would be in the midst of terrorism and bhatta.

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

They do care. But what can they do, if their protectors (police) continues to protect the criminals responsible for it?

Re: Karachi’s business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

About political appointments, which according to the traders, is the major cause of lawlessness in the city.

Political inductees in Police
Saturday, October 27, 2012

Appearing before the larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry hearing the Karachi unrest on Friday, the IG Sindh disclosed that 30 to 40 percent appointments in police were made on political basis and it was the biggest hurdle in restoration of peace.

During the past several decades, Ministers and elected representatives used their influence to get people of their choice inducted in police and posted in their constituencies to get their illegal orders implemented. In Karachi all limits have been crossed and now almost entire police force is allied to one party or the other. In fact some officers are regular members of political outfits and they perform their duties in line with the dictates of their political masters.** Criminal elements that are also part and parcel of the political parties thus enjoy a free hand as they are well aware that the SHOs and senior police officers would not dare lay a hand on them. That is the main reason that target killers and gangs of all sorts of mafias are playing havoc in Karachi.

KARACHI - While hearing the Karachi law and order case on Wednesday, Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali of the Supreme Court said** police was operating at the behest of politicians**, adding that officials were more loyal to political parties than to their own institution.

Justice Jamali said elected representatives and ministers facilitated issuing of arms licences in order to increase their vote bank and, therefore, engaged in corruption.
He said even certain criminals who were wanted in several cases were issued arms licences, adding that there was no system of check and balance.

So now we need to look at: who makes these political appointments in police force, and who issued arms licences indiscriminately?

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

Altaf bhai to yehi kehte hai

Re: Karachi’s business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

Really? Show us some statement from him where he said that current lawlessness in Karachi is Punjab’s fault.

And if you can’t do it then it just exposes your own prejudice and hatred. Is it due to my ridiculing Taliban Khan in the other thread?

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

^ has MQM abandoned bhatta khori now?

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

Altaf Hussain claims establishment backed elements are behind extortion in Karachi, if he knows the culprits why doesnt he disclose them?

Re: Karachi’s business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

This is great, OP a well known MQM(cough supporter) is saying Karachi is dying. :chai:

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

Yes Syed. They pick the idea of PTI and named it Chanda/zakat\(^o^)/ any further question in this regard or we back on topic?

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

sometime hints are enough to understand the puzzle. Guess who are those elements which don't like from day one that MQM is in power in Karachi and Hyderabad?

Re: Karachi's business is dying at the hands of extortionists (and police and governm

That was the topic, as in the rest of the country mqm is thought to be behind extortion in the city but when they also protest it seems funny.
