Might be visiting Karachi next yr for a friend’s wedding. It might just be a week.
What places should i eat, see and what things must i do in the little time i am there?
This is my first visit. I am from India but living in Australia. So also let me know about those places where visiting indians are known to get freebies? Jk

Let me know when you are going baita and I will make sure you get treated like a royalty, I am still very close to my childhood friends who are very influential there. My best friend was just visiting Toronto from KHI and I had a very nice chat with him.

Hey Shaas, you are going to one of the best cities that has some of the greatest food places with a ton of other entertainment.
Now from what I recall, there is a place Do-Darya, beautiful place with some amazing restaurants. There are a lot of great restaurants at boat-basin, clifton.
Also, for indoor entertainment goto places like Arena etc.
For outdoor, you can plan picnics at places like Charna Island etc. There are activities like Scuba diving, ziplining etc that you can do. And ofcourse some good malls if you want local shopping.
Now I've a little disconnect from current updates but if you want i can capture more names and let you know.

At Clifton Boatbasin you can find all different cuisines. Iranian, Arabic, Mexican, Italian, Thai, Chinese ... You name it. You can even have superb sushi at Tao restaurant at boat basin.
You can go to Arena for bowling, ice skating, bull riding, and much more.
There are also very good malls for shopping ...Hyper star, Forum, ocean mall etc.
Visit beaches and eat gold gappas and chana chat. You can also go for camel and horse riding at the beach. If u go early mornings there are not too many people , it's nice serene and calm.

You can also visit Mazar e Quaid in the evening. It has many small parks and is made of white marble. There is this strange serenity and peacefulness at the tomb. Walk on cooling white marble and enjoy the crazy breeze

You can still have fun if u don't wanna break your bank. There are tones of awesome food BBQ/grill shops every 2 miles or so, serving mouthwatering Desi food like Frontier karahi, or Nankeen lamb. You can have karak dood patti chai at any quetta cafe.

My friends brothers had opened up a restaurant in Clifton, BBQ tonight. I heard it was amazing. They were like 6 big n tall Afghan brothers

Go to the beachside, there is a whole food street there. It is called Port Grand. Visit at sunset, it is beautiful. One thing is, because this place is a tourist hotspot, the restaurants are really expensive. They know that people with money will come there. The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. So if you are gonna visit, go for snacks and the area. Not for actual dinning.

you may have dahi barey chaat and fish hasan square

I didnt know u had connections in Karachi or i would have mentioned this earlier to u. :)
Its a friend's cousins wedding. Not sure of date yet but Jan next yr if my visa gets approved. I am hoping i can stay at their house or otherwise at a hotel like other visitors.

Thanks Sid for all the advice. I didnt know you were from Karachi or i would have tagged u as well. I wrote my friend's wedding but i meant my friend's cousins wedding. I will be there for a week mostly being involved in marriage activities but i hope i get time to explore the city and other activities.
I have heard of do dariya and clifton but i need to check out boat besan more.
I will need to know more about arena. I dont know if i am adventurous for charna island.
Is there anything shan masala related in karachi?

Wow looks like Karachi has a lot of great diverse multicultural foods. You dont need to travel the world wheh u can eat food in karachi.
Arena has bull riding? Wow i didnt know but now its in my list of things to do. More than shopping i want to see camel and horse riding.

I have some incredible friends there, they keep in touch even after 25 yrs.

Thanks for mentioning mazar w quaid. Its on my list of places to visit. I will ask my hosts if we can visit there. Also planning to hopefully visit mohenjodaro and harappa if its not too far from Karachi.

Shukriya janaab sab jagay batane ke liye. Aur yeh bataye Pakistani dramas ke jo sets hain wo kahan dikhenge. Mujhe pata hai sab dramas Karachi mein hi bante hain. Shayad dekhne ko mile. Khana jagay batane ke liye bahot shukriya. Biryani subha shaam khane ka plan hai :)
Aap aur Muqa bhai do darya mein milenge. Ek GS meetup bana sakte hain tab.
