hey
I am getting married in Karachi in July inshallah. I actually live in London and so know nothing about Karachi and the places to go to organise a wedding. Clothes, make up, caterers, decorations etc.
Any ideas? Appreciate any comments. Pics would be most welcome.

Samra you should have someone in Pak helping you to get everything ready. For your wedding outfits, if you ordering from Pak you need to give them at least 2-3 months otherwise the tailors will give you hell. Also book your salon a couple of months in advance as well. There is loads of info in this thread and other wedding related threads so you can go thru it one by one :)
If there is nobody in Pak who can help you then you'll have to make a trip yourself to get everything organized i.e. booking a hall for reception, buying wedding clothes/jewelry/catering. The decorations the hall people do themselves.

I have my parents in Karachi but as I am the eldest in my family and the first to get married they have no idea where to start!
Also I am very picky so I think they are reluctant to pick things without my approval - which I cant do as I am not there!
I have booked a designer to do the wedding outfits for me and the venue has been booked - but I have no idea about make up, food, cameraman & photographer!
Any recommendations?

Karachi Wedding - need help!
Hi everybody, I really need your help.
I'm getting married in Karachi April 2008, but my family & I are flying in from NY for only 2 weeks, and we don't know how we're going to arrange for stuff in Karachi if we're in USA --- we don't know which are the best hotels for a wedding, which is the best place to get flowers / catering / wedding cards.
For example according to your experiences, which hotel is better --- Sheraton or Marriott or Pearl Continental or Avari? The $ to rupees exchange rate is good, so we will be able to afford almost the best, inshallah.
Any suggestions would be HUGELY appreciated!!

Congratulations first of all.....!!!
Your best bet is to get a weddign planner. Karachi is full of them and they are not even expensive OR you can assign jobs to your family and friends in Karachi, like amke one of your cousins incharge of flowers and everything and send pix to her so she can get it doen for you.
If you are able to find people like that it's great if not weddign planners are good! You will ahve to make thed ecision for the hotel yourself but those weddign planner ladies help out with the clothes, jaheez, decorations etc!!!
This forum can help you too, get ideas from here and send the pictures of stuff to someone in khi who can get those made for you.
I know of some weddign planners, let me find that info for you....!!

If any 1 has KDA or Kashmir Lawn's numbers.... as 1 heard that these are really good as the are in the center

Congratulations!! The KDA/ Kahsmir lawns are good but if you want anything moreupscale, then you can try the hotels, namely Sheraton (expensive), Pearl Continental and Marrioit. I would personally recommend Pearl Continetal if you don't want anyuthing as expensive as Sheraton.
Wedding planners try nizamevents.com (they arrange catering too), marriot.com also has wedding plannings ervices ifyou decideto get married there.

My wedding was also in Karachi. We had the mehndi at the Creek Club in Defense and the Shadi at the Darbar Hall in the Sheraton. My make up was done by Cistre which is in the Karachi Sheraton. The catering was someone famous that does a lot of the catering, but I can't remember his name. Our photography/video was done by Hakim&Sons and they did a nice job.
But there are tons of nice lawns throughout Karachi.
