Just caught a glimpse of the genetics discussion going on here and I must agree with (I think Moin) who is saying that many South asians (Indians and Pakistanis) have central asian genetics. That is damn right, how do I know. I had my DNA analyzed and I learned my genetic markup is from central asian and caucasion regions. Now I am not talking like a few hundred years back though, we are talking many thousands of years back.
As for Puunjabi's don't what the discussion is going on here however have to say one thing if Sikandar e Aazam had made to Sindh, man Sindhis would be just as Goray chittay as punjabis .... :)
Ahmad Shah Abdali was a Pashtun born in Multan.. there are hundreds of thousands of great figure who were born in west punjab and where Pashtun/Central Asian.. so, whose descendants are we? :halo:

Vast majority of Punjabis look like any other Indians, even if some of them have 0.0001% Central Asian blood in them. West Punjabis share far more in common with East Punjabis ethnically and genetically than they do with Pashtuns or Central Asians/Afghans.

My point was that Sikhs, Muslim and Hindu Punjabis share the same blood. Muslim Punjabis did not all magically appear with the invading Afghans and Central Asians. They were converted from the locals.

No I am not telling him anything he do have some valid points... But you do need to learn (for a change though) that there is no such thing as hindu blood, muslim blood, buddhist blood, christian blood, sikh blood, martian blood. these are religions independent of race or color.

^^ I do accept the fact that Karachi is far from being good, but denying that improvements are being brought in is simply ridiculous. I've never lived in Clifton, Defence etc. so don't expect me to know how the sewers there work... although I have lived in the middle-class areas and the sewers don't do half as bad a job as you mentioned (unless it rains--once again, we are far from being good). Do you wanna bring that old system back where a cleaner would scoop up the poo from the toilet and throw it out? Hmm... dunno how'd that work out, my nana told me that it was the kind of sewerage they used to have during his time.
And by the way, what did Karachi used to be? Seriously, I don't care; there's no point of looking back. Dude, cities grow, economies grow, people get more informed... you can stick to that "I want it exactly the way it was before" attitude unless you wanna keep moving ahead. And make no mistake, I am absolutely not in favor of the current condition of Karachi--whether be it lower class, middle class or upper class--I am only in favor of the improvements that are being made. And Farid bhai if you think that there's something wrong with the improvements, please bother to share it here with a decent explanation.

I am from Clifton and I think things have gotten better. Couple of very nice parks, few nice road etc. The problem is population has also grown rapidly that you may not notice a lot of work that has been done. KESC has created a new mess that makes the city look worse than it is.

Don't say anything to Abdali, dear.. Abdali has very valid points.. read his posts again.. Come' on. The whole world knows mahajirs are actually Indians- Punjabis from Pakistan side are actually mixture of various Central asian and Aryan tribes who attacked the sub-continent and taught the pagan believers a good lesson. Punjabis are NOT Indians- only mahajirs are dravidians.. I hope that clears the point.
