Well the season of tomatoes is just beginning in the southern part of the country. Soon we will have round and juicy tomatoes from Karachi's Malir area being sold at Rs. 10 per kg.

The bad news is that the price of tetra pack milk has gone up by Rs. 2 per litre. The price of oil and ghee has again gone up during last week.

With Bakra Eid around the corner, I have not seen significant rise in tomato prices at this stage. Any bets on what the price could go up to?

Are you kidding buddy! Yesterday I bought good quality tomato for Rs. 16/= per kg!. Tomatoe crop of Malir is now ripening and the price may go as low as Rs.10/=

40% of our fruits and vegetables could not reach consumers and lost during transportation. We do not have any industry to process and pack these abundently available tomatoes during these months so that they could be sold around 40-50 when fresh tomatoes climb to the price of Rs.100/=

It is unlikely to increase. Because the best of tomatoes in Pakistan - the one from Malir is coming into the Market.
