supply and demand, where demand has stayed constant but the supply has been impacted on a massive scale due to circumstances beyond human controls i.e. natural disaster which has similar impact elsewhere.

In Pakistan there are certain players who create artificial crisis to make big money, and govt is not doing much, and in many cases it is part of the problem and not the solution. Before the tomatoes crisis we have wheat crisis, and sugar crisis and stock market crisis. So, this is nothing new, and many of those involved are politicians, including sitting federal minsters.

aaah I was waiting for same kind of "taunt" in US when price of ROMA TOMATOES went from 0.99$ per lb to 3.75$ per lbs (2 years ago)....but to my disappointment no one "taunted" US govt with "economic boom" instead they were all talking about something rubbish like crop turnout, supply and demand and all the US analysts were wrongly of the opinion that these factors drive the prices.... next time I'll make sure that you get a clip on local news channels and let people know about the "REAL FACTOR"

There is no connection!..just adding milk to the convo since the prices of tomatoes have gone up, i thought i might as well add milky on the way since it’s price has also gone up

^^^ thats was hike to Bhutto in town and many people was preparing for BB hence tomato price hike :) but this sucide bomber didnt let people use these tomatoes.

Indeed during Eid days, the demand for tomatoes grows manifold for biryani and karahi! Suhgar households buy tomatoes when they are sold for Rs. 10-15 per Kg and make paste of them and freeze them.
