Well deserved embarrassment and humiliation for ARY - absolutely well deserved.

Their over the top cheap gloating, obsessively self absorbed brand advertisement, and non stop chichorapan, naach gana with clowns like Badami and Umar Sharif needs to go for the next year. ARY has made Karachi the most nauseating and off putting team amongst the neutrals, in comparison to the goodwill enjoyed by teams like Quetta and Peshawar. You can’t even watch ARY to catch some normal news - that’s how dominating the KK coverage is.

PSL could have been used as a golden opportunity to make space for the professional sports journalism in the country to flourish, but instead we have a TV channel with three different astrologists predicting three different match results. What the flip! What century are we living in?

The most over hyped up and ‘expensive’ team turned to be the crappiest. So message to corporate media moguls - let sports be sports, do not get too competitive outside the cricket field and do not compromise your general viewership.

Quality cricket will always triumph aggressive marketing.

Unlike many Pakistani women - I don't watch Pakistani "drameys" or Indian movies, I just use my quota to catch up with Pakistani news on TV.

Well my parents always have it on. No escape.

I think expecting professionalism from these media giants in Pakistan is an hopeless effort. They are unprofessional throughout anyways.

It's more than just about severe lack of professionalism - I just don't understand why you have a panel of astrologists predicting match's results and players' performances. My oh my.....what kind of culture and jahalat are you promoting in the name of sports? As if this whole industry of Babe Jee's haven't caused enough damage in the society.

On my twitter feed someone just a posted a video of ARY team celebrating Lahore's defeat from yesterday. Umar Sharif acting like a mad screaming bull running around the entire set, some people doing sajdeys, Badami doing some lame bhangra. The whole scenes looks like as if Pakistan just defeated India in a WC final.

Pathetic, absolutely cheap behaviour. Such behaviour gives rise to racist attitudes and divides. The amount of racism I have seen on my twitter feed recently due to PSL is simply unbelievable.

Yes, the most obnoxious and racist fans on my twitter timeline. They always have and will always live in a little bubble of their own. ARY hyped up Karachi so much that their fans were convinced that their team is unbeatable, and when their mediocre team did face some deserving defeats, their crazy 'Karachi...Karachi Jeetey Ga" brigade simply couldn't take it, and resorted to racial slurs.

Oh. Yeah, well. Karachi just lost their match against Peshawar and now it is up to Lahore to seal their fate. Lahore beats Islamabad, Karachi is out of the PSL!!

Hm…The initial post (which i agree with) is very conflicting with the rest of the hilarious posts so I’m trying to figure out whether the whole outcry is for..

A) ARY - showing off extra for their purchased team in the entertainment shows etc.???

B) ARY - covering Karachi Kings and favoring them and ridiculing other teams like Lahore???

C) Karachi fan base on twitter - Cuz they are annoying and you dont like them???

If its A, then first of all its not the right forum for this and therefore the topic is misleading. Second you must understand this, when ARY bought a certain team it tried to use its most successful products i.e. the entertainment shows to advertise their new brand and thus bringing their original fan base towards it. Its simply their business model they are following. Now we can argue whole day long how bad their business model is, which is annoying others but now its a whole seperate debate. But thats how most of the Pakistani media works, like it or not.

If the problem is B, then its just far more ridiculous. You need to understand this: They own Karachi team while their arch rivals GEO sponsors Lahore team. So its just a war between two media houses. Thats all. Its not about cities its about rivalry and the cities could be other way around too. And again they are using their successful products i.e. shows to propagate this war. Have we forgot what they did with Geo during that blasphemy case they built against Shaista Wahidi?? Why noone opened a thread against them then? Just becuz Geo was a ‘bad’ guy at that time and later your favourite politician announced bycott of Geo?

And if the problem is C, oh comeon, if they are on your twitter feed then it must be some reason. They could be a part of your political idol fanbase, who knows :slight_smile: But isnt what I mentioned many times in PA forum that fans from one particular party go all nuts by photoshopping and cropping pics and other nasty posts, and at that time I was told that we cant chose or reject a political party on the base of social media posts, why would you “hate” a cricket club now for that reason? :slight_smile: Oh this hypocrisy..

And if its neither A, nor B or C then it must be some beef you have with Karachi or its people thats why you cant “stand” it and I know it takes a brutally honest person to admit it :slight_smile:

In the end, Its just a simple cricket league. Comeon folks take a chill pill. You dont like a media coverage, switch the channel. You dont like the followers of one team, block them on your feed.
PSL is the best thing to happen with Pakistani cricket, so enjoy it while it lasts! Adios! :wave:

Other than your lame and pathetic taunts about IK/PTI - do you have any idea what you are even talking about? Completely missed the point how ARY is setting up bad trends at the expense of ruining sports, and fanning regional/racial divides. Yes Geo and all other media houses jumped on this bandwagon after ARY’s over the top coverage.

What you harbour is typical desi mentality ‘jaisa chalta he chalne dou - either shut up or put up with crap’.

As with ARY's "business model' - they are a 'national news broadcaster' but they decided to reduce themselves down to petty regionalism by focusing so much on city based team and not just that, by going further and ridiculing teams from other demographics in almost discriminatory manner. Of course I don't expect majority of Karachi fans to understand this or even call it wrong. Their otherwise likable team is the most disliked team outside of Karachi and amongst neutrals just for being the most overhyped team through an obnoxious marketing campaign. Karachi win mean nonstop gloating and racial abuse on others.

I am glad this business model has flopped big time for both Geo and Ary, as Peshawar and Quetta teams have proved that you really don't need major media house publicity, exploitation of ethnic and regional divides and 24/7 cheap campaigns to go ahead in the league and get double the amount of supporters and well wishers from all over the country.

PS: My "political idol" is hardly a thing for Karachiites for similar obvious reasons. So yes I had no idea that the seemingly normal Karachi walas I follow on twitter are such massive fans of re-tweeting racist BS. I could block them but I rather be aware of different attitudes which is a reality than close my eyes.
