Because MQM started riots in city in mid-80s, they handed guns/ammunitions to teenagers who are now running their own gangs or simply using MQM platform to ‘rule’ different areas.

And what was the reason MQM at that time resorted to violence? Do you know that or are you just pretending to be ignorant?

But in either case, that is past long gone. The topic here is about Karachi real estate losing value, and this current trend is not due to MQM of 80s. Mentioning past here only shows your political prejudices.

MQM has been in majority ever since they started “participating” in elections so improving Karachi’s condition falls on MQM not on parties whose play ground is in Baluchistan, KPK or Punjab (or parties who are a ‘minor’ player in KHI).

MQM winning majority seats of the city does not mean that it has been in power all along. The only time it was in power was in Musharraf’s time, and that was a golden era for Karachi’s development. Ask any Karachiite.
This is the reason why according to that new poll, MQM’s votebank in Sindh has increased 22%.

People who come here in city from outside for earning do have their share of responsibility but if people who have been living here much longer are not fulfilling their responsibilities then how motivated will be the ones who are coming from outside?

How can you blame people of Karachi or MQM for the dilapidated condition of the city when the city is controlled totally by provincial governments run by MQM’s rivals?
