Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

Karachi is indeed becoming a melting pot of Pakistan. Also, guests are only for few days, when someone gets settled in that place, they are no more guests but residents of that place.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

ofcource that i meant Lusi, thanks for making it clear

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

Glad to hear it :k:

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

These are the results of the 1998 census. In the ensuing 12 years, many more Pathans have come into Karachi, and many more Sindhis have returned to their capital city.

This is why the MQM is worried it will not be able to dominate criminal networks in the future.

http://blog.dawn.com/2010/10/21/a-changed-political-landscape/

According to the 1998 consensus, the Mohajir majority of the city had fallen from 51 per cent to 48 per cent, and many believe this has further dropped to about 41 per cent.
The Punjabi/Saraiki section of Karachi’s population that stood at about 16 per cent in 1998 has increased to about 17 per cent, while the Pashtun population has risen to 16 per cent

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

If YOUR worry is running of "criminal networks" then just making Urdu speaking people a minority will not solve it. Because there are many criminal networks being run by Lyari gangsters like Rehman Dakait, and ANP's Taliban brethren. MQM is not the only culprit in this fight.
But if you are only talking out of hatred of Urdu speaking people then your comment is justified.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

Urdu speaking aren't that bad either.

Hatred causes people to make mountains out of molehills.

Pakistan’s problem is not the now-defunct theory of Jinnahpur, rather it is more the problem of Free Balochistan and Sindhu Desh.
In case you don’t remember, Sindh’s interior minister Zulfiqar Mirza is on record to say that he wanted PPP Sindh to start independence struggle, and was stopped by Zardari when he said “Pakistan khappay”.

Even bigger internal security problem Pakistan faces is at the hands of Taliban and their allies.

http://www.daily.pk/we-were-going-to-break-pakistan-zulfiqar-mirza-13576/
Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza has said we were ready to break Pakistan and were much more determined to chant slogan of ‘Pakistan Na Khapay’ – No need of Pakistan,
following assassination of former PM Benazir Bhutto but we deliberately opted otherwise just because of President Asif Ali Zardari suggestion ‘Pakistan Khapay’.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

How come a people with 48% minority be a danger for Pakistan’s existence! How come they can separate Karachi and Jinnahpur? Is’nt shameful for the the proud and brave sons of soil!

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

To achieve this - you need to do amemedment in the constitution or whatever law relates to election. Give Karachi a special status and hold elections on “mutanasib naumangdi” or divide Karachi’s area on ethinic basis!!!

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

Looks like Bhai's plan. Do you think this ill conceived plan will work? Absolute no. Only plan works is bring Naseerulah Babur back in action. Cleanse Karachi from terrorists by searching house to house for illegal arms. Start this action from 90 and propogate diagonally so that whole Karachi is covered. Spend billions of dollars on that it is worth. Bring Karachi back to normal like sixties and seventies. If it takes year or so, so be it. It should be done without delay.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

Aren't ANP and People's Amn Committee also responsible for this bloodshed? Why focus on MQM alone?
Are you against MQM or all Urdu speaking people?

Besides, as far as I know, if racist plan gets executed then your government will be LOST.

Well Said… as I said before in couple of my posts I am not even a suporter of MQM even Im not basicly an urdu speaking Im belong to a Punjabi family from Faisalabad but we spend our few years in karachi before moved abroad, me and my family dosent have any problem with MQM goons while it was only our and my uncle house were among 99% urdu speaking peoples and it was the worst period of violance between PTI and MQM street war, I know and understand they have a lot of crazy workers like gangsters but I know PTI/PPP/JI also had them… the members whoes only job to critisise only MQM and they think that all others are ANGELS is not quite fair judgement.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

Bhaijan read his post: he wants more seats for ANP and less for MQM and that is the only to achieve this.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

As the demographics change in Karachi, the political power and influence of the ANP and PPP in Karachi will increase to the loss of the MQM. Then again too long Karachi has been dominated by the MQM who have terrorised urdu speakers and others, it’s time for political pluralism and ethinic integration.

However, the rise in the Pashtun population of Karachi and the resultant ascendancy of the ANP there is something that the PPP cannot ignore. The ANP and its predecessors like the NDP have had political roots in Karachi but the higher profile of the party is reflective of the changing demographics that make the MQM cower. Unlike the rather unnatural and uneasy PPP-MQM coalitions that historically have ended in failure, the ANP perhaps would be the PPP’s natural ally in the Karachi politics in the years to come.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

The following excerpts from an article written by jan assakzai also explodes the myth of pakhtun population in karachi

http://21centuryreforms.blogspot.com/2010/04/linguistic-census-reduce-pakhtuns.html

Karachi hosts the largest concentration of urban Pakhtun population surpassing Peshawar, Quetta or any other city even in Afghanistan. Some estimate put the numbers of Pakhtuns in Karachi to 7 million out of 17 million resident population of Karachi ( “Front Line World”-Focus- a report produced in association with the New York Times). As per the old census of Pakistan in 1998, the distribution of national languages within the city was:[38] Urdu (48.52%), Punjabi (13.94%), Pakhto (11.42%), Sindhi (7.22%), Balochi (4.34%), Saraiki (2.11%). Such census were conducted on first language based principle severly disguising the actual number of those Pakhtuns who have lost fluency in Pakhtu and speak Urdu. According to 7 million figure, Pakhtuns are over 40 per cent of the population but the “linguistic” census reduce their number to less than 20 per cent assuming the total number of residents in Karachi are around 17 million. Even if Pakhtuns are 20 percent, redistricting of Pakhtun dominated areas in Karachi have been very cleverly done in a way that they become minority in geographical seats predominated by Urdu speaking population as a result Paktuns can not have a single in National Assembly, becoming disproportionately under represented in state bodies, at provincial and federal levels.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

I damn care for any government in Sindh as long as terrorists are flushed out and hanged. Read my post I never singled out any party. Terrorists are hiding behind the big fat black backs of their leaders. They should be caught and punished according to crimes they have committed.

Yes I am against mqm or any other facist cult party which thrieve on ethinic hatread. I definitely not against any Urdu speaking people as many of my relatives are Urdu speaking people. They are highly qualified and very decent people.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

Actually you did single out MQM first by saying that operation should be started from nine-zero, and secondly by not mentioning any other terrorist organization like ANP and Lyari gangs.

Re: Karachi - now the largest Pashtun-speaking City

It is not just MQM that has terrorized Karachi. It also includes ANP, JI, and Lyari gangs. Why no criticism of them?
How can terrorism be eliminated from Karachi when, as per you, MAJORITY terrorists of ANP keep the reign in their control?
