These are the results of the 1998 census. In the ensuing 12 years, many more Pathans have come into Karachi, and many more Sindhis have returned to their capital city.

This is why the MQM is worried it will not be able to dominate criminal networks in the future.

According to the 1998 consensus, the Mohajir majority of the city had fallen from 51 per cent to 48 per cent, and many believe this has further dropped to about 41 per cent.
The Punjabi/Saraiki section of Karachi’s population that stood at about 16 per cent in 1998 has increased to about 17 per cent, while the Pashtun population has risen to 16 per cent

How come a people with 48% minority be a danger for Pakistan’s existence! How come they can separate Karachi and Jinnahpur? Is’nt shameful for the the proud and brave sons of soil!
