Anyone knows about ‘Kanjri ki Masjid’ in Lahore and history behind it?
I read that its related to Maharaja Ranjeet Singh and his beloved Moran.

No there love life got a relation to this Masjid. It shows us a shift in Ranjeet Singh's nature. His army used Badshahi Masjid as stable for horses. It is said that Maharaja used to drink wine in Masjid Wazir Khan, Lahore and when he got seriously ill, he took as bad dua from the saint buried in Masjid Wazir Khan. While his armies kept Badshahi Masjid occupied as stable, he opened Masjid Wazir Khan for namazis

Moran won her way into his heart when Ranjit Singh was only 21 because she was unlike any woman he had known. She accompanied him when he went riding. He married Moran against the wishes of the entire community and despite the conditions that were laid down by Moran’s father and the head of her community Mian Samdu. The community was rehabilitated in Sharifpura, near Amritsar.
Moran and the maharaja went to Hardwar for a dip in the Ganga after their marriage in 1802. The marriage incurred the wrath of the entire Khalsa Panth and Ranjit Singh was called to the Akal Takht for retribution. He was proclaimed guilty and condemned to public flogging. He bowed before the Akal Takht and accepted the punishment. He was exempted with one kora and a fine.
He never minted a coin in his own name but he struck one in Moran’s name. She became known as Moran Sarkar and became a window to the common people who often brought their problems to her.

^ Such a twist , it is amazing that many not so good women end up making a masjid. i have heard some other stories of good deeds by such women.
Shaikh rasheed told some stories about the owenr of lal haveli .

Moran was not a prostitute and was just a nautch girl. Kanjri in Punjabi means dancing girl, though the term has become derogatory now.

PS: khatranak naam nahi khatarnaak hamari soch hai.. Haven’t you heard Baba Buleh Shah saying ‘Main rythRa yaar manawa ga, pawen kanjri bunenea pe jawe’?

I have heard the name of the masjid for the first time. Mujhay is tarah ka samjha hua hay. :(No bro haven’t heard about that shair, don’t have that much interest in poetry.

So you never been to Ranjeet Singh ki Samadhi or Badshahi Masjid as they are near tabbi gali

I have been to badshahi masjid and Shahi qilla but am not sure if we are allowed in the smadhi, never tried to get in there.

I am not sure about this masjid, I believe it would be some where in interior Lahore. That's the real Lahore, but I have never lived there and frankly I don't think I can live there as its very congested.

Yes the area is congested, but worth watching. Its where our history can be located. By the way, the dating point of mai Moran and Ranjeet Singh was Kamaran's Baradari in Ravi

I have seen kamran's baradari from far, but never been to the site though. It's near river Ravi.

It used to be in between River Ravi IMO. Now may be due to drying Ravi its no more in between the river.

You are right, it used to be inside Ravi but the river has dried now.
