Kamran Akmal (merged)

^^ that was four Yrs. ago.......Anway..the wicket keepers Pak have tried beside Moin and Rashid are

**Atiq-Ur-Rehman: **First given a Chance Aganist SL in second Test in 1999-2000, scored runs in second crucial innings when Pak failed chasing a reasonable target..lokked good with Bat and behind the stumps...had to sit out when Moin came back as captain, was given another chance under Waqar Younis is Hong Kong and batted reasonably but i think dropped a crucial catch of Kallis of waqar's bowling in Final...so was not considered after Moin came back.also unfortunately got caught in sex scandle before team left for ICC tournament in Kanya

FOr next Yr's NZ tour** Humayoun Farhat**was pickedup and played in second and thirdt test match, was okay behind the stumps but was explosive with Bat, scored quick fire runs in a Sharjah final but i heard missed couple of Stumping oppertunities the same series...which proved to be his downfall.

then came Kamran Akmal was picked up for Zim tour in 2002 and performed well with Bat and didnt look bad behind the stumps either, so he was given extended chance in SA tour too, where played reasonably well. and now has gotten another chance against Aussies.

To me after Moin and Rashid Kamran is our best bet behind the stumps....he is young, he can play for Pak for quite a while...hasnt made any blunder behind the stumps....is (lets admit is)not doing worse job than Moin infront of stumps and is definetely more reliable than him behind the stumps...what if he hasnt done anything special with Bat so far....who has in this tour yet, Salman Butt, so may be he should be picked up as Wicket keeper????

Besides thoese three you mentioned, pakistan tried several others besides Rashid and Moin. These were Javed Qadeer, Nadeem Abbasi, etc. By the way its Atiq-uz-zamaan, not rehmaan :D

p.s I agree with your post.

i,ll preffer kamran akmal on any other keeper in domestic level or national including our seniors (rashid, and moin) i saw him first against south africa he opened for paki i think he made around 35 but the way way hemade those showed that he can be a regular batsman for paki. and he i s a excellent keeper . i know he ahsnt performed with a bat in recent i think he will do that once he,ll get a comfort of his position. rite now eventhough he is the only keeper to AUS there r many fingers pointing at him. so be KOOOL let him play his game. and dont bring players who r not even in circuit like hamyun.

Kamran Akmal will prove to be a great player for Pakistan. Pakistan should stick with him rather than chopping and changing.

The Game Responds:

*The shmuck can't bat for his life. My verdict; will be out of the team by the next year(Inshallah). People, That Is All.*

How about Zulqarnain? Is he any good with the bat?

if pak were so bent on taking a rookie to tour against the world champs' in their backyard, then surely they could've chose a better option like humayun farhat, although he ain't as young or as fit. or some1 like zulqarnanin fresh from world cup triumph. kamran akmal can't keep well, can't bat at all, he can't judge a good line, he keeps fishing outside off stump, always living on the edge with this lad, no confidence in his batting technique @ all.

i would suggest zulqarnain as kepeer, and he is a good batsman also.

I think he is good behind the stmps but he has to improve his batting. I think he opens in domestic cricket

kami is THE BEST keeper in PAKI rite now .

Anyone but kamran.

just compare
and decide urself
zulqernain haider not a single century in his domestic career

wat can i say?????
and zulqernain was the only compatitor to kamran.

is he rookie?

what ever happened to Asim Kamal. Is he in the squad. Kamran Akmal is the future of Paki cricket Inshallah

I can't believe this moron dropped Langer yesterday on 18,,, would be a totally different match if he held on. If you are a speacilist keeper, you better hold on to your catches no matter how tough.

The Game Responds:

*And I hear people saying "it was just a mistake"! God, that's a lot to say in defence of a shmuck who can't even bat! Atleast do what you are in the team for. Disappointing. Really. People, That Is All.*

send him back home

kamran cant bat good in international cricket in both form of games tests and odis, he can be a good batsman in domestic cricket but for me he is useless batsman in international cricket.

All you Akmal basher's listen(rather read) up.
Akmal is definitely a pathetic batsman, but he's working on it(according to Woolmer). What do our batsmen do? Get them straight first and then go after the keeper. In a Test, a keeper's main job is keeping and if he doesn't waste any chances he's done his job. Look at Patel, he cost India a SERIES WIN AGAINST AUSTRALIA. So be thankfu; for what we have, and give the kid a pat on lhe back for filling Latif and Moin's shoes with such poise.

The Game Responds:

*Keep quiet. We have other quality keepers in domestic cricket who **can** bat as well. The reason behind picking this silly shmuck is beyond my comprehension(Parchi, probably). And yes, we are not talking about our batsmen here; times have changed, A wicket keeper should know how to bat. You can end up with a very long tail otherwise. And another thing, your "specialist" keeper did end up dropping a catch off Langer when he had not even made fifty runs in the first innings. People, That Is All.*
