no i am not in u.k my fiancee is there but he doesnt know any stores ,actually i need laal chooda for my wedding b'coz it was my ammi jee's wish and i want to fullfill it .

not only indian punjabi brides wear it,pure punjabi old families do this rasam ladki ke maamu ladki ko maayu or mahendi per pehna detey hain but now days due to mod scod weddings girls dnt follow this rasam but in lahore there r few people jo yeh rasam kertey hain but kaleeray lazmi hotey hain yea laal chuda concept has been moved becoz people preffer gold bangles more den hathi ke dant ki chudiya but u no wut i m wearing both of them [gold n laal chooda]

Um I think we called it a "gana"..... yeah usually mamoo wraps it around the wrist and it's not meant to be taken off the bride til teh wedding day. In some weddings, they put them on the groom too. At my wedding since my mamoo wasnt there, my brother did it, and my nand put the gana on my husband... but I had to cut it off later that night ecause they were going to do the mehndi on me :(
OK i saw the pictures and the thing we put on is different than this, its smaller, one or two balls with red threads hanging from it...ummm ill hav to find a pic of it to show, but i think it is a similar rasam, just smaller thats all..

Depending on where your finacee is in the UK - somewhere like Birmingham or Southall should be a safe bet.
I personally know that Gohil Emporium in Birmingham (Stratford Road) or Badial (Soho Road) will most likely stock these

ohh the kaleera. khala was telling me that a long long time ago brides had to travel distances to get to their susral. and they couldn't really stop on the way. so the girl's sisters and friends used to string dried fruits and other stuff on a bunch of strings and would tie that on the girl's wrist, so when she's travelling she can eat stuff off it herself and also feed her new family. each girl would have her own string, and it would be a competition between them to see who can string the most food. it's just got translated into that golden thingy you see these days.
umm i haven't really seen a lot of families do that theses days. your best bet is an indian punjabi bridal store. you're in UK i'm sure there are a LOT of stores that do this.

mrs.saieen u r right but rasamey to bohet ziada hoti hai families ke reet rawaj ke mutabiq in our families groom ties a gana aswell gana dulhan b pahenti hai mager humare me choode kaleerey ke sath gana b hota hai lot of stuff to wear specially for the bride bechaari bride haha
