Kabul-ization of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat

Yeah, this is a new term. Kabul-ization!

It simply means that Talibanic menace systematically destroys cities in their reach. The buildings get blown out, their windows shattered, streets littered with debri as the civilian management collapses.

Taliban are like bubonic plague of 21st century Pakistan. They first destroyed Afghanistan to a point there is no destruction is possible.

Sure we made a mistake thinking that Taliban are different compared to other tribals. Heck it turned out to be a bad dream no a nightmare.

Right now the same plague is bombing music shops. Yeah music is kullu haraam according to Wahabi Islam. No tabla, no baja, no tooti, nothing. Islamism is against everything that may look beautiful, or sound nice to our ears.

Islamism also forces beards. Look at the long flowing and enforced beards in the name of a religion that stood for modernity and tolerance. Gone are the basic tenants of Islam about speaking the truth, being trustworthy, and tolerant.

Welcome to the brave new world of Talbanic plague. Music shops, and barber shops are first, soon to be followed by every kind of business that is legal.

Sure our soldiers are dying, but their sacrifices will not go waste. The more Talibs we kill, the less likely our cities of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat will become Kabul, Kandhar, and Jalalabad.

Goodbye the brave soldiers of Pak Army, May Allah bless your souls, and bring peace to the country.

Not until 2001.

Re: Kabul-ization of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat

Right, all was hunky dory for the mullahs when the taliban was fighting northern alliance in Afghanistan and when the terrorists are blowing up people in Iraq.

Re: Kabul-ization of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat

I hope PAF bomb the $hit out of these morons.
Send these people back to stone age where they belong .Send all these people to hell who want pakistan to be a stone age country.

Re: Kabul-ization of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat

Obviously these are not isolated incidents but a growing trend.

What are the duties of the govt of pakistan (which happens to be military controlled) in this? It is unable to maintain any law and order - doesn't matter whether they don't want to or can't.

It is heartbreaking that tens of thousands of kids have been prevented from going to school. This has corrupted next two generations of pakistan!

And what's more sad is right now there is a thread in the Rel section where a bunch of people are arguing that music is haram. These are not taleban - these are clowns from other parts of pakistan. So why hide behind the politically correct "islamist" label! Bitter truth is 'regular" muslims are unwilling to accept taleban is wrong in specific matters because that leads to a conclusion that islam itself has to change.

Bitter truth but has tO be faced if this menace is to be stopped from totally destroying pakistan

Re: Kabul-ization of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat

Thanks for info, Divine.

This is what I fear. And I wonder, why some staunch rigid extremist women from this very FORUM....never talks against this instead of always talking down to the tolarant people on GS?

Musharraf may have lot of flaws.....but in the name of democraZY....Im fearing the mullahs will win and dominate PK into a taliban state..... Benazir and Nawaz will not be able to keep the pro-mullahs from the political scene.

Every kido who has extreme views, have them from their backyard. We as women need to play our role at home correctly...and raise tolerant kids..the future of generation of PK. sorry if Im off-track here

Re: Kabul-ization of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat

Pathani, you mean people like hareem01 and zobia who often talk favorably of these folks?

Re: Kabul-ization of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat

bingo, good point by pathani.

Re: Kabul-ization of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat

I don't know.

They must have been smoking SOMETHING though, to be living in this day and age, and not allowing girls to go to school, taking women out of the workforce, FORCING women to wear a garb that covers their entire body AND face, essentially erasing them from the landscape.

To top it off - not maintaining basic cleanliness and neatness in the cities (cleanliness is 50% of Iman - but these guys don't know WHAT cleanliness is - look at the Taliban era Kabul!) - not providing basic health care to their citizens (I still cannot believe they haven't shut down the radio show in NWFP where a mullah is discouraging people from giving their kids polio vaccines!) - not providing proper justice and economic opportunity to its citizens.

There is something DRASTICALLY wrong, when there are millions of problems around you, and all your administration is doing is bullying CD shops to shut their businesses down.

Re: Kabul-ization of Kohat, Bannu, and Sawat

I agree - extremism is beginning at home. A mother can bring moderation to her children's behavior, as she's the main one present at home most of the time. But just think about your typical little village or small town or shack areas in urban areas, and think about how women rear their kids:

Beating - teaches children that if you use enough violence, you can get someone to do what you want.

Selective gender rules: Boys can run around at 1 a.m. and they'll get yelled at, but beti jee can't leave the mother's nazar. Girls' education isn't emphasized at home - how do you expect the boys to grow older and respect and recognize the need to educate women, when their sister was raised jaahil and married off at 17?????

General Discipline problems: I have yet to see a desi mom in Pakistan that has proper control over her kids. They run around wild, unsupervised, outside in the galian. Maybe some aunty is looking on. But she's more concerned about spying on neighbor's husband who might be doing some fishy business.

Mannerisms: I don't care WHAT anyone says. Kids in Pakistan have very little manners.
