Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

I am a realist pd. Did they not see all of this coming when they decided to fight for the case? All those threats, isolation, pressure.. everyone could see it coming so why didn't they budge then? and why did they budge now? I also refuse to believe that they forgave the killer in the name of Allah and without any money involved.

I feel for them because we are not at their place but they have betrayed thousands of activists, lawyers, protestors who went to fight for them on streets. They could have done this a long time ago.

In my opinion, Shahzeb's father got a hefty khoon baha and probably bought an investor visa for settlement abroad. (australia is reported to be their destination). Its their right religiously and legally

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

oh and in another twist, the legal experts are claiming that khoon baha is only applicable in murder charges and not in terrorism charges.

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

one question:

is ShahruKh Jatoi and three others gonna be released?

after the Khoon bahaa, i think their death sentence should only be commuted to 'life imprisonment with NO parole"...mar ke hii jail se nikle!

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

And does that mean the other MURDERER, Shan Khusro (happens to be the Son of ex-Commissioner Lahore and Additional Federal Secretary, Pervaiz Khusro) who murdered Hamza Elahi will soon be released? :hmmm:

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

as per legal experts on media, Jatoi can be released on murder charges but not on terrorism charges.

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

allah karay!

we also need to look into qisas issue...it is being misused extensively by rich people

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

I hope i am not wrong but civil society and activists will think many times before protesting against any future innocent murder by a feudal (God Forbid). This could have been a shining example; an influential upper middle class family taking stand to punish a typical elitist feudal mentality.

but alas k aakhri time per Allah ne unn k dil mayn reham daal diya

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

i think if any threats/intimidation is used to secure qisaas, it must be made NULL n VOID in that case...

...also, the financial needs of the family must be considered...someone who is making enough money to live should NOT be eligible for qisaas...Rs 10 crores is obviously a large sum to justify the need. qisaas was probably meant for those families who probably lost the ONLY earning member of the family. in that case qisaas money would help them live their lives.

i agree it has been misused by the elite N rich and influential.

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

was he tried under ATC?

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

Even religiously, this deal seems invalid and unnaceptable. Religious scholars are also disputing and denouncing this act.

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

Life and death is in Allah's hand but this pardon was given to save many other innocent lives ( family members and the witnesses )

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

no words :(

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

Really disspointed!!!!!!

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

does anyone remember ShahruKh smiling and waving a 'V' sign to the media the day he was sentenced to die for the murder...everyone back then wondered why he was so stupid to smile on his death sentence?

now, we know why he was smiling!

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

We shouldn't blame the family. They are victims. They stood courageously for a long time but finally succumbed to pressure. The continuous threats to family members and witnesses finally broke them down.

But we should blame our legal system and corrupt administration and be rightfully outraged at them.

  1. The diyat law is an atrocity! The State should not abdicate its responsibility and leave the decision to the victim's family. No family should be placed in a situation where they have to make a decision like this and face associated pressures. Not to mention the fact that the diyat law has also been used to pardon honor killing perpetrators by the remaining family members. Now, some religious scholars are coming out and arguing that the diyat law (as per Islam) only applies to unintentional murder. Where were they all these years?

  2. It is outrageous that the rich and influential can exert this kind of pressure with complete impunity. It is corruption in the state that allows them this impunity. The State has completely abandoned its duty to protect the victims.

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

True .... it is easy to say that Shahzaib's mother/family should not have pardoned this convicted criminal (Shahrukh or whatever his name is) but no decent family esp. one with no strong political or military influence can take on these feudal badmaash. They would merely be putting their own lives (and those of their loved ones) at risk

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

If an educated, well off and politically connected family which was also backed by the entire civil society and media, cannot fight for the justice for their only son. The rest of the poor old Pakistanis should just die!

By certain logic, why expect the local administrators, law and authority bodies, activists or clerics to raise a voice? Why should they be putting their lives at risk, its not like raising a voice againt these feudal lords will bring them any appreciation or earn them any respect? What difference does it make? Who cares...

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

I actually agree with your point here

V

But it's a tough one...esp. if (as parents) you have genuine fears that your daughter might get raped/killed as a result of your actions

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

Sadly, in our country, lives are cheaper than cell phone and Justice is non-existent.. Sad state of affairs.

Re: Justice for Shahzaib Khan / Verdict announced (merged)

No way. Shazeb's family has betrayed everyone who supported them in the chase for justice.

All for money. Shame on them.
