Odd news coming out regarding this case. Shahzeb's father has been promoted in rank. He just got his passport made. Not sure what value that news has, but it was being reported on a news channel.
The quick fire promotion certainly seems like a buy-out attempt. However, he himself was on a talk show yesterday, vowing to take the case all the way to death penalty

There were argument in the case today to remove section of ATC , ATC is uncompromisable . Death has been made compromise able under Sharia by Zia and that is reason the rich can kill easily .

The problem with this nation's psyche is that they still think of themselves as slaves and for slaves whatever master gives is enough.
But at least they have come this far. what if the police had not registered the case..what if the Surgeon general had given this guy a clean chit by declaring him under 18...what if the family was harassed into silence..

After being proved wrong you resort to your usual aayen baayen shaayen instead of admitting that waderas do have private jails. You are such a great person to suggest that once a wadera throws a haari in his private jail the haari can file a case in government judicial system where wadera will go and defend his throwing haari in private jail, I wonder why the stupid haaris could not come up with this idea.

In other news, the 2 witnesses who had positively identified Shahrukh jatoi as the murderer have changed their testimony and suddenly claim to 'not recognize' Shahrukh Jatoi!
Reminds me of witness intimidation during Zardari's jail term.
Waderaism at its worst.

FIA has taken Protocol Officer of Bilawal House Wasi into its custody here on Friday, sources said.
According to the sources, two protocol officers were involved in getting Shahrukh Jatoi fled abroad.
*The sources said that another protocol officer Mehmood Sultan has been quietly posted in Washington.
*Farooq Sattar was right when he said…jo jeeta, woh wazeer, jo na jeeta, woh musheer…jo bach gaya, wo safeer.
So it turns out the Shahrukh fiasco goes all the way up to the Bilawal House. No wonder Nabeel Gabol had a hard time getting thingsdone. He was up against the big one.
shahzeb murder case - justice served
KARACHI: An-anti terrorism court (ATC) has awarded death sentence to the key accused, Sharukh Jataoi and Siraj Talpur, in Shahzeb murder case while the other two accused have been given life imprisonment, Geo News reported Friday.
The court has penalized Sajjad Talpur and Murtaza Lashari with life imprisonment along with Rs 500,000 fine.
Shahzeb Khan, 20, was shot dead on the night between December 24 and 25 last year. Seven people including Shahrukh Jatoi, Nawab Siraj Talpur his brother Sajjad Talpur and their employee Murtaza Lashari were booked in the murder case.
However, the court declared three accused as absconders as they are still at large.
Under anti-terrorism laws, cases are decided within seven days but proceedings in the aforesaid case were completed in two months and 20 days given the complex nature of case.
During the course of the trial the ATC had upheld its decision of declaring key accused Shahzeb an adult after reviewing the ossification report and other documentary evidence.
Talking to Geo News, Shahzeb Khan’s sister said that an example should be set while deciding the case, so that no influential person would dare to torture a common man.
She rejected all the reports about her family willing to strike a deal with the accused, by accepting blood money. She dubbed such reports an effort to vilify her family.

Indeed, and my sympathies are with the victim's family. That said, Shazeb was no "common man" so to speak. Living in Defence, wearing dapper suits and contemporary hairstyles, son of a DSP, Shazeb belonged to a family that is very much part of the Pakistani elite itself. Which explains, at least in part, the extraordinary outrage his unfortunate murder generated on social media and the extraordinary swiftness with which the case was resolved.
Otherwise, there are lots of murders happening in Karachi and elsewhere in the country that hardly elicit such an outcry. "Justice served" for Shazaib. Good start. Now let's hope the police and ATC would also deliver justice for the families of thousands of Shias, Hazaras and other Pakistanis who have lost their loved ones in terrorist attacks in recent years too.
