Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

like a headscarf or beard, doesn’t mean you’re religious.

Please discuss.

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

It just shows that ander kheeen chingari maujood hai even if its not a fire....

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

Anyone can have a beard. From a molvi to a metalhead.

But a headscarf is a clear religious symbol- and to an outsider it shows that your are practicing your religion or at least trying to so clearly you are religious ( if your religion is strong or weak, that's another thing).

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

ofcourse it doesnt.. i know a bunch of girls that don't wear a scarf but are much more religous and shareef then some of the girls that do wear them.

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

I have witnessed hijab wearing females showing 'PDA' in front of college library with their male friends during student days not long ago. So I agree with Jhanjariya here.

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

okay, but then how can a male muslim demonstrate this if beard isn't a religious symbol?

^what's the point of this video?

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

Q: how can a male muslim demonstrate this if beard isn't a religious symbol?
A: He does not need to tell, his actions/deeds will

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

Its like same thing wearing a bikini in public doesn't mean you are not religious, you are religious by heart ;) Am I right??

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

True. So you can have a beard but you can still be irreligious. So why is that that only men with beard and women with scarf are considered religious?

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

because humans have the habit of generalization. "Generally" people who wear religious symbols are religious.

Although it might not sound right but we (humans) take things on their face-value and then work out from there.

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

So all the women who don't like wearing headscarf because they don't wanna show off their religiousness wear bikinis in public?

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

But is it important to be considered religious in others' eyes?

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

Hareem it can go both ways if you are modern which most people are, you will try to give justification oh we are religious by heart you shouldn' t be judging us and if you are religious and NAAOOZBILLAH you listened to music all the community will go after you, oh look at that crazy mullah or mullani singing, may be ALLAH can forgive them also. Once I went to this restaurant and this guy came with tasbeeh in his hand reciting some zikr and after a while he was drinking wine what can you say? He was not maulvi just modern with tasbeeh and wine ;)

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

Not exactly I was just giving example like you are;)

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

May be they are and may be they are not.

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

No one knows who is more religious than whom, but Allah .. but if someone has a beard (for religious purpose) , I see that he/she is at least striving more to obey allah's order than the one who is clean shaved. I am clean shaved and I always look at the guys, who has beard as sunnat, with utmost respect.

I want to be honest here, when we have 3-4 guys together and Namaz time comes, I would rather have the guy with the beard lead the prayers. I dont know and dont care if he is better Muslim than the rest of the people in that group, I just know that he is one step closer to follow sunnat than anyone else

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

Sorry. I don't understand the purpose of these examples?

Re: Just because you like wearing a religious symbol

So clean-shaved men and scarfless women cannot represent Islam even though they might be more knowledgeable and may have better character than others? I see.
