The mother to be is mostlikely going through the same shock your friend is going through Jasoos. You need to find out what HER thoughts are on this whole issue and what she plans to do. Ultimately, it is her body. Is she ready to be a mother? Is this something she wants to do at this point in her life? Is she willing or even want the father in the baby's life if she does go through with it?
Sit down and talk to her about it before deciding that your life/freedom is over. Your friend is in shock right now, but things may be different once the baby comes. It is surprising how many men are able to take on the responsibility they previously ran from once the baby is literally in their face.
IF she decides to keep the baby and does want the father around, your friend will have to just grow up and take responsibility for his actions.
