Has anyone heard their song “Holy Land”? It is available on muziq.net.
I can’t understand Junoon’s junoon with English. Ali Azmat’s accent is horrible and he ruins theek thaak songs. But with Junoon’s original composition, he just takes the pain to another level.
AliBeta, yaar I bet even you can’t defend this one. Worst Junoon song ever. I hope their English album is substantially better.
Even from a commercial point of view, I seriously think that they should not to do anything of the sort. With their Urdu albums, they have a very strong following, a following which brings them a lot of money.
If they, however, start singing in English, they’re competing internationally. And it doesn’t seem with No More and Holy Land that they can cut it at the international stage.

**As I said earlier (quite a few times) that Junoon (Salman & Brian) should think about dumping Ali Azmat some where at Bhati Gate, give him kushkool and some financial target to achieve. With his besuri + bhondee awaz he is not going anywhere. I am sure with his beautiful (meaning horrible) voice in no time he will able to earn his living, especially in English.
Well, sorry I am being sarcastic but that's my opinion.

I think Junoon will alienate many of their Asian fans, those that only understand Urdu when they release an only English album (and I'm sure there are tons of them). I don't think it will be easy for them to break into the international market, as it seems they're trying to with this "all english" album.

I really doubt this. Who listens to Junoon? The average shopkeeper in Pakistan doesn't. He's much happier playing some latest Hindi song.
IMHO, people who listen to Junoon will not have problems understanding the language. But why would they want to listen to Junoon's English songs when they can listen to much, much better English music?
They'll also suffer greatly when it comes to the lyrics, imo. Their popularity and music owes a lot to Allama Iqbal and Bulley Shah's powerful kalam. How will they generate the same effect in English with no Iqbal or Bulley Shah to get "inspired" by?
The song Holy ground is a song written by Junoon's well wisher Morten Hackett of Aha and was sung by Junoon in the UN concert in 2001.
This song hasn't been released by Junoon and the copy circulating around the net (probably you heard it at muziq.net) is aweful and doesn't jusify the song at all.
The song is really beautiful and I have heard Junoon perform it. But that was the first time Junoon sang it in that concert.
As for Ali Azmat's accent. He is suppose to have an accent. He wasn't born in the West and I really dont think there is anything wrong with singing in an accent.
Listen to "no more", Ali sang that song beautifully...
Waisay this is good feedback Sambriallian, I will make sure that Junoon does get this...
As for Salman 2, you are just an idiot. So I wont even answer to you. There is a difference between ridiculing and criticizing. You know about Ali Azmat's singing talents as much as you know about EPROM!
hypocrite!
Frauds I thought you liked Junoon! waisay you missed a great Junoon concert in Chicago.. YOu should have come.. I would have introduced you to the guys!
So no one likes Junoon anymore eh? Is that why I see so many people in their concerts? eh? Im not a die hard junooni, but it doesnt take one to realize that they are supreme kings of the pakistani music scene right now...
btw, I still think No More is their best English song though...
But my question is...y the need to sing in English.
Whats wrong with Urdu and Punjabi. They say they want to cater to an international audience...but who is going to listen to their crap, these goras wont. I used to love their work...but lately, the kind of music they are producing, especially this English album, its terrible. Kashmakash, Azaadi and Parvaaz were one of their best albums....but ever since then their work has never been that good.
In all honesty I don't care what language they screech in, I don't like them. Not that I've heard much, I saw them perform something called Sayonee or something where the lead singer was warbling away some tuneless crap and that was enough for me.

I still think junoon is the best band pakistan has ever produced.
No need to introduce me to the guys, i know salman and ali on a first name basis since 93, but thanks for the offer. I could not attend since I was out of town.
