I cant believe how easily everyone has sucked in to his new ‘image’. His just a marketing gimmick for his older fans, the dude is 45, he ain’t gonna be making love/pop songs now is he ? His fans would have grown up, and as with alot of muslims, they suddenly realized how important Islam is to them when there old and ugly after they’ve had there fun fornicating, clubbing drinking etc
I don’t know if you know about the music business and A&R, but i can guarantee you he must have had meetings with record executives, about musical direction and image. Now what kind of image and music do you think really makes a 45 year old man sell records ? I was actually surprised how gullible people are in falling for the whole, ‘I used to make haram music, but oh look now i’m making nasheeds’ PS go and buy my new album which im selling for 10 quid and at the same time exploiting religion to make a profit. People really do underestimate the power of the PR industry.
If he was really sincere about his Islam he would not be making a profit out of it. At most he would charge what it costs to make one CD, Which is what 10p-20p the cost of a blank CD ? Plus maybe studio costs and the costs of getting the machinery/people to burn music. I would say that adds up to it costing him 1 maybe 2 pounds per each CD unit produced.
I saw him at the last GPU. He was openly fraternizing with the young girls at his stall, flirting, laughing and being touchy touchy. He was only signing CD’s and talking to attractive girls. Me and my nephew were laughing about it and at him, It was actually funny cos there was one fit girl standing right next to him. So everybody who wanted there CD signed was just giving it to the fit girl to sign. I can assure you he’s not the seeda saada pious simple man wearing a shalwar kurta that he portrays thorugh his new musical image and on the Islam Channel. ‘Oh and guess what you can also buy the Islamic clothes im wearing too’
As a business student I do think It was a a great marketing strategy, Junaid Jamshed had his last pop hit when? …exactly. Record companies are great at re-brand ing and re-inventing an artist.
