I am not sure what all of you are trying to debate here.
He was saying good stuff about Pakistan, trying to deny the general rumors. What was wrong with that?
Plus u cannot post a 4 minutes out of context speech from a 40 mins lecture and try to analyze the lectures personalty. Fact is this that JJ is much much better than many other scholars who carry holier than thou attitude. I like the guy and I do not see anything wrong in his message. Yes we all can debate about the stats.

Fact is this that JJ is much much better than many other scholars who carry holier than thou attitude.
from what I have heard he did have something rather uppity to say about salman ahmad and sufi views etc, but i have not seen it myself so can't be certain it was a fact.
what is a fact is that as much as I josh about on the music lifting, which was really more shoaib mansoor than these guys, I have met Junaid on several occasions and he is generally a down to earth, gentle and friendly guy. One would hope that his qualities would rub off on some of his new compatriots rather than the other way around.

I think the video that STA posted was out of context (making it seem JJ was praising the Pakistani nation blindly) and the one that BarbieCue posted made a lot more sense. What JJ was doing was showing us how to think ...
He was describing an anecdotal thinking process ... that we should think as though Pakistan and it's people will answer their own problems, we should be concerned with our own dispositions. Hence, none of his stats are really to be taken seriously ... they are what he wants us to tell ourselves to convince ourselves that there is no problem there - afterall we can only affect the problem within so why stress out about a problem we have no control over? His way of saying it is not entirely easy to pick up ... but you see his methods are tablighi ... :)
I think the bigger danger is that a Pakistani will pick up this video and use it justify their own continued arrogance ... yet that is not at all what he is saying ... My finger goes out to that youtube poster who probably knowingly cut and paste this section of the overall talk misrepresenting what was actually being alluded to.
