July Fourth an international day

Since America stands for freedom and today we celebrate freedom from the oppressors, maybe the world of 192 nations should acknowledge that and declare 07/04 a world freedom celebration day, where free people celebrate freedom. I could see a few jpoyous maulanas shooting their ak47s in the air to show their affection towards free life.

Re: July Fourth an international day

Celebrate a gross act of treason against the Crown? I think not!

Civilised people suck up and pay their taxes. Hooligans rebel.

Re: July Fourth an international day

^^ Now I know why Pakistan was created. Thanks!!

Re: July Fourth an international day

There was no rebellion to create Pakistan. Pakistan was created in a civilised manner through decades of petitioning the authorities and showing mass support. A far more civilised means than raising the ugly banner of rebellion.

But then again, the colonials were, and still are, an impatient people who resorted to force rather than protracted pacifist means.

Re: July Fourth an international day

I dunno ..why celebrate a movement which started off over cups of tea in Boston?

Re: July Fourth an international day

what nonsense!

secondly
one writes the forth of July as 04/07
not the other way around…silly boy!

Re: July Fourth an international day

the didnt have cups of tea, they threw the tea overboard…

How utterly disgraceful!

Re: July Fourth an international day

^^ Exactly:

Civilised Indians: Didn't like British taxes on salt, did a peaceful protest march to the sea to pick up salt and got arrested

Hooligans of the American colonies: Didn't like British taxes on tea, started destroying perfectly good tea.

Re: July Fourth an international day

I like the enthusiasm you brits show? Oh then again you dont have such a day. Awww its ok its called a ball-less society, where people cannot stand and rebel for grins. tsk tsk.

Re: July Fourth an international day

^must be an American thing..flushing stuff down a toilet..throwing tea overboard

Re: July Fourth an international day

Are you saying Ghandi, Jinnah and the other Indo-Pak independence leaders lacked balls for not wanting to turn to armed rebellion to create nations?

Re: July Fourth an international day

maddy ..veri only likes mobs who attack KFC...

Re: July Fourth an international day

No they(jin/gand) had balls to stand up against oppression, armed or not. Its Brits I was commenting about cause they never had the balls to stand up, purtians did, they invented USA.

Re: July Fourth an international day

What did the Brits need to stand up to?

Re: July Fourth an international day

Not flushing causes stench. Maybe it was bad tea from china, and that too green.

I dont know, read Adam Smith’s Wealth of nation and look at the stupid taxes Brit monarchs levied on their subjects. Do they still have to carry a bail of hay in the back of cabs? (you know that law hasnt changed since horse drawn carriages were made obsaolete by automobiles).

Re: July Fourth an international day

The fact remains that taxes alone would not drive the British into rebellion. It was not a case of lacking guts, but rather having a sense of law and order.

Re: July Fourth an international day

^^ Maddy hence my point nothing would drive brits to a rebellion, ball-less creatures dont rebel.
Example: Look at irshad manji now she's got balls.

Re: July Fourth an international day

And only thungs rebel over small things such as taxes.

Britain created the colonial states, nurtured them, grew them, and got in return a kick in the teeth.

Re: July Fourth an international day

^^No maddy that is a typical british.... ball-less excuse. IMHO. Couldnt stand up to their own kind so took their frustrations to foreign lands.

Re: July Fourth an international day

Your philosophy fails because the ruling class over the so-called “foreign lands” were overwhelmingly the same as the ruling class in the Home Isles.

The difference is the colonials were less civilised and more violent and thus raised the ugly banner of insurrection in reaction to policies that they did not like.
