Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

someone is openly speaking against Judiciary :hmmm:I dont think by lashing out at Judiciary PPP is actually doing themselves any good.

MULTAN: Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani lashed out against the judiciary on Wednesday and remarked sarcastically that there is no need of elections as the judges want to govern the country. “We have fought against all dictators and were always successful, but today the judiciary has become a dictator.”

Speaking to the media in Multan during an Iftar party, Gilani said that if all prime minister’s decisions are taken by the judges, then elections are mere drama because it is the judiciary which will choose prime ministers according to its own will.

“I wi**ll surely go for a protest at all levels against the judicial oppression in the country,” he **maintained and added that there will never be a stable Pakistan if incumbent Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf is sacked. “If Raja Pervaiz Ashraf asks me for advice, I will tell him to reject the court orders.”

While saying that a third force has always been blamed for derailing democracy in the country, Gilani said that the judiciary has become that third force by using the Constitution in an unconstitutional manner. “The** judiciary has become the third force for which the army was blamed in the past, and today they want a controlled democracy, as the institution has been politicised with clear and determined political intentions.”**
Gilani further said that sovereignty belongs to Allah, but the judiciary has now declared itself as the custodians of sovereignty of the country. He added that the economic instability in the country is also due to the environment created by the judges.

“T**hey have frightened away people from investing in Pakistan and you can see, no one is eager any more. They [judges] have direct interference in every affair of the government.”
**
Calling his disqualification “unconstitutional”, Gilani said that the judiciary is not independent because everyone is forced to follow the court’s ‘unconstitutional’ orders.

Gilani was disqualified from his post of prime minister after the Supreme Court held him in contempt for not obeying the court orders by not writing letter to Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.

on the other hand, CJ says, Judiciary can go to any extent to implement the Constitution, even if the sky comes down.

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry remarked on Wednesday that the judiciary can go to any extent for implementation of the Constitution in the country, reported Express News.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

SHHH! Peer saab bakray qurbani kaay baad bola nahen kartay.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Judicial oppression against loot mar to be specific. Now he is pushing his luck.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Gilani has been banned for 5 years, and he is trying hard to find a way to stay in the limelight. We can already see how Faisal Raza Abidi has been let loose by Zardari for his recent onslaught. Now Gilani has been ordered to take similar potshots at the judiciary from the sidelines.
Specifically speaking, Gilani's suggestion to Raja Pervez to 'reject court orders' is another attempt to invite some action...same old political martyrdom attempt.
Gilani should retire and become a practicing peer now.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

The CJ is a moron & should be impeached & thrown out by the Parliament. He is a disgrace to the law profession.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Siasi Shaheed hai trying to get syampthies playing good victim card.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

The CJ has issued certain politicized statements in the recent past, but his actions havent been wrong. The current parliament is a disgrace, and it is shameful for the presidency to be taking part in politics. Its even more shameful for the parliament to be putting 1 man ahead of 180 million people.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

The Supreme Court has appellate jurisdiction & its acting like a trial court against the govt. The Parliament represents will of the people. Who elected this 3rd rate PCO judge? Btw, if PM is smart he should rescind executive order restoring judges & send them all packing; they all should be charged with contempt of the Parliament.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Half truth, u forgot

Parliament is a bunch of thugs.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

You sound so much like Faisal Raza Abidi.
Suggesting that the PM should send the judges packing is yet another attempt to invite the government's ouster.

Face it, time is running out. Just a few months more, and this government will have completed its tenure. No military take-over. No presidential ouster. No dissolution of assemblies. PPP is not going to gets it wish this time around.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Every parliament is full of "thugs". Or would you pref few generals in their place?

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Certainly not, but the the corrupt mafia& bhatta mafia, cannot be given a license to loot and plunder.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

If "every" parliament is full of thugs then why should we even support "democracy"?

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

B/c you have voice in democracy. If you don't like the thugs vote them out next time.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Vote them and replace them with different thugs?

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Lol I hope that is a compliment. Btw maturing of institutions takes time...Rome wasn't built in a day. Also, this CJ as corrupt as any parliamentarian. Why give him a pass?

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

At least you get to pick your thug...or you get stuck with a general. Do you wanna go back Zia or Mush's era?

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Third class president who was elected by the thug parliament "elected" or "appointed" this 3rd rate PCO judge. Now remember, when this VERY SAME judge was fingering Musharraf everyone was hoo hoo haa haa and supported him. Now this VERY SAME judge is fingering current government the exact same people have problems, why?

So basically the nation decides who is going to be her rapist?

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

So, let us wait for Judiciary to mature too.

I agree that CJ has crossed the line several times but, 1. tussle was started by Zardari who refused to implement PPP's election promise to restore judiciary and 2. the government has not left any stone unturned in order to irritate SC since the NRO decision.

Re: Judiciary has become a dictator: Gilani

Sadly, I was one of those supporting restoring CJ. In fact, I few to DC for lawyer's rally for restoring judiciary in Pakistan. As for why, b/c Mushy was a military dictator who had little regard for rule of law. When you have democratically elected govt in a place like Pakistan it should be supported & strengthen; not browbeaten into submission. The govt has mandate & not the CJ.

As for the 2nd part, wrong comparison. Democracy does not =rape... that is a dictatorship (when you have no say). When you consent its a not rape. :D
